    Moto NZ50 any takers?

    Just found this:

    http://nzmoto.com/page1.php

Its a Moto NZ50, I tried searching but couldn't find anything about them on the Forums, After a battle that resembled the last battle on Lord of the Rings I convinced my Parents to let me buy a "Scooter" So I am eyeing up one of these but just wanted to get some other opinions on it.

I like it because legally its a scooter (50cc) but technically its a motorbike - with a manual clutch -which is what I am ultimately aiming for.

I just want to know what people think of it? Is it a good buy?

    Thanks team,

    ScarFace.

This is basically the same thing - Shanyang instead of Moto. I owned this bike and sold it for $500 with 1700 km on the clock, now it's for sale for $200 with 2800km. Pretty damn good fun and capable of 82km/h (GPS verified).

The quality is pretty average even though they look ok. Depends on what you want, if you want brainless buy a normal scooter, if you want more fun but are prepared to spend time maintaining it buy one of these (or even better the one in this trademe auction, there's nothing left to lose at that price!

there is a guy at the University of Waikato that has one of those Moto NZ50's and it sounds awesome.
not sure if it has had any mods done to it, but yeah, sounds way better than any scooter I've ever heard.
there's a couple full size 50cc motorbikes in NZ, Suzuki make the Gamma which looks good, but it sounds like you want a bike not a scooter.

Found this on trademe now: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...x?id=262828377

Its about 500 cheaper and looks a lot sexier, also made by Jialing & Honda so pretty much same thing.

Cheers all, see you on the roads soon

I got an NZ50 brand new off trademe in september 2008. It was $1850 delivered to wellington. I have done about 3500 km on it now and it runs really well for a small 4 stroke.

I was a bit worried if it really fitted into the moped classification, but I went through a check point the cops checked the rego and were happy with it. It can handle the hills in Wellington much like a 2 stroke 50 cc scooter and is way more fun.

The mod rocket looks like it is from the same factory

Look near the bottom of this page http://nzmoto.com/page2.php
It says to change the oil every 1,000km after it has been run in. That seems a bit excessive to me.

yeah, but it would use less than a litre of oil,
i doubt the engine has any sort of real oil filter, it would be prudent to change the oil as much as possible

Yeah, But think about it.. With a 2-stroke scooter how much (May I add) Expensive oil would that use every 1000Kms? When you put the two comparisons together it isnt that bad really... Well Ive been doing my homework on these little bikes. And for a cheap mode of transport and a second bike I think (Once the 1975 Mini sells) I will get one. They seem to be a good little bike. Better than a mod rocket anyway.
