    Bike won't idle when cold 88 GL145

I used to be able to start the bike, without choke, no matter how cold the engine was and she would be fine.

Now, it won't start without the choke on any given morning and it won't idle until its warmed up. I checked the idle speed and turned that up. Didn't make a jot of difference.

I'm gonna pull the carb apart and check for a blocked idle jet. Anything else I should look/check for while I have it apart?

Blocked idle jet/circuit in the carb is an area to check first. Hit it with carb cleaner and stick some fine wire through the jet.

If it had a blocked idle/pilot jet it wouldn't idle even when it's warm.

Does it run ok when it's warm?

If so, are you sure it's not just due to the colder weather?

It runs fine when its warm. I had this bike last winter and never had this problem. Never even needed the choke last winter and the bike wasn't garaged like it is now.

I'll pull the carb apart and and have a look anyway. Probably worth doing, hasn't been done for a while.
