Well its seen the track in anger. I took Friday off to take the bike out to Ruapuna to test the FXR......Had mixed results but by the end of the Day Brendan had help with some pointers with suspesion mods (to be done later) and some jetting changes. I headed off to Levels with a happy warm glow.

Unfortunatly I had some electrical gremlims in Qualifying and managed to qualify in 4th behind the two Hoogies and Camo Jones.....not bad considering it was running like a bag of shit and a second or so faster than my best levels time.

Race one, with the electrical issues sorted I found some jetting changes I had made at the end of the day before, had stuffed up the good work done. I got a shit start which put me in the perfect position to see some streetstock/bucket carnage, tumbling down the track. It was a fairly unevenful race and rode the bike home in 4th behind the "kids" 2 x Hoogies and Cam jones.

Race two, Had made the jetting change back to the proven size from the day before. In the warm up lap it felt great and was looking forward to the race. grided up on the line and the bike started missing and just as they were going to start the race the bike died, I looked down and saw I was sitting in a puddle of gas! I pushed the bike to the side of the track and had a look it would seem I'm a goober and the carb bowl had fallen off thae carb.

Race three, with the bike sorted I wanted to put a good showing in the last race of the day, Finally the bike was going as it should. I got an average start but settled in to a good pace and the bike felt good, was pretty uneventful but brought it home in 3rd behind Camo and Al hoogie but beat James Hoogie with identical lap times! and knocked off 2 seconds a lap off my qualifying time That three seconds faster than I've been around Levels!!!!

Well done to Camo Jones for beating that pesky CBR of Al Hoogies on a fairly stock FXR.

Things to sort.......the rear spring needs preloading to counter the excessive weight and different linkages the R6 shock is now running in...New tyres are required the rear is 2003 vintage and feels like its the limiting factor. But after its first outing I am bloody happy with the results and can only get better with time on the bike and fine tuning!!!!

    . . .
    yup, that qualifies.

Sounds like you had a good development surge.

Maybe I won't trouble you on the 50 this year.

chances of troubling you on the 100 are even less given my current progress.
Don't you look at my accountant.

KOL rd2 done and dusted with mixed results, new rear slick and the preloaded rear shock all done and was picking up the new front slick at the meeting.

Qualifying: the first few laps were spent scrubbing in the new rear, I decided to leave the old font on incase the fitting turned to poo. i didn't expect too much as i never really got a decent run with the ammount of traffic. managed to qualify in 4th in buckets and 15th overall (40+ bikes)

Race 1: gridded up and got a shit start but soon found myself in a three way battle for third with James and Matt Hoogie (who has stepped up from S/S to buckets.) Al hoogie and Camo Jones were miles ahead. running in third for the final lap I knew the Hoogie boys were going to be there at the line and James piped me on the line by .019 of a second pushing me to 4th. The bike with the lower profile 105 rear was letting me hit the rev limiter 2/3 down the back straight so with no other options i went back to the pits and fitted a tooth bigger front sprocket.

Race 2: Not one of my brightest moments i binned on the warm up lap and with the bike in a bit of a mess i pushed it to the nearest flag point to watch the race. A lap and 1/2 in a S/S rider went down which red flagged the race, i rode the bike back to the pits and ripped what was left of the fairing off and sorted the bars out and made it back for the restart, i lost some mojo and was happy to finish 5th behind the three hoogies and camo.

Race 3: Still a little low on confidence in the rooted front slick i gridded and got a decent start only to see Al Hoogie on the CBR go down, I rode ok and finished 3rd behind Camo and James Hoogie.

The bike is now far from showroom condition but with the new front fitted i'm looking forward to KOR and seeing if i can go sub two minute! Anyone got a FXR fairing?

Sometimes you wish it was easier, but if it was, everyone else would do it, then you remember you don't want to be like everybody else!

I thought that bit needed highlighting
