All the gear, all the time. I totally recommend it!

Had an off on Highway 22 Thursday afternoon. ( fucken pheasant put me in a position where running off the road was safer than trying to take the corner ) Just low speed, thankfully. I'd be a whole lot worse for wear if I wasn't wearing all my gear.

glad to hear you came out unscathed. I had an of recently at 70km/hr, not evena scratch on me! - thanks to 1tonne leather pants which took 100%of the impact!

Ive heard 1 tonne was good, apart from the problem of them being out of stock

It did the job okay, Tho, I'll get it replaced via the insurance to be safe.

Glad you're in one piece....what about the pheasant? What gear was it wearing? and was it unscathed?

I am constantly amazed about the poor attitude to protective gear from many scooter and motorbike riders. Cheap jeans, trainers, a helmet that doesn't fit and is often unfastened and no gloves. I know the axiom of 'buy the best protection you can afford', but looking at some people they can't afford to come off their bikes.

So what is the minimum "all the gear" ?

I feel pretty stupid for even allowing the bird to alter my line and ultimately that's what fucked me up. Was almost a reflex to grab the brake cos it gave me a fright. By the time I realised I'd done it, the bike stood up and I was on the shoulder. Ah well, hopefully I'll resist the urge to brake next time.

As for "All the gear" I guess I mean pants and a jacket with padding, leather gloves, a helmet and motorbike boots. I've gone out a few times with just sneakers on thinking "She'll be right" but never again. You never think you'll come off ... untill the day you do.
