    Earmuffs for Kiwi Biker baby?

Any idea of what is available for a wee one so she can attend the Munro rally?
Technically she attended last year, but was only peanut sized and inside Mum, so was well insulated. Now she's appeared Mum would like to take her to the speedway (aware of flying debris issue) and Wyndham street races but concerned about her teeny ears...

Presently 3 months old and cute as a button
proud Dad (me) staying at rally site for the weekend (about 5 km's from home ) and would like to see wee girl there so can show her off...
    Where's that fucking spanner...

at a pinch, blutack will do, but you might want to get some custom earplugs made.

edit: blutack, roll a small ball of it and put some lick on it, and gently massage it into her OUTER ear. Pull it out quickly, so you don't just pull of a long string of it.

    "Wow, Great advise there DB."

Ear muffs are not recommended for kids under 18 months. (Even kids ear muffs) This is because there is too much pressure on the skull while the fontanel (sp) has not closed.

    Plugs pose a choking hazard.

Not many options really. My wife and I looked into this a while ago.

Good point, forgot about that soft baby head thing (kinda gross when it pulses) May re-think the whole idea...

Ear muffs are not recommended for babies until their fontanelle has closed. Get some of the mouldable ear plugs. I got some from Plugz for Lugz for when I took my boy to Paeroa and they were awesome. I used them on myself as well. I think you can buy similar in pharmacies.

Believe it or not, it's the latest fashion accessory at European fashion shows! Bring your baby along to the show wearing tiny earmuffs so the loud music doesn't damage his/her hearing! I will see if I can find some pics.

You could also try contacting your local branch of the Audiology Society and ask them for advice. Or maybe Plunket?

Cheers to all for the advice, will follow up some links and see what the experts reckon.

Glad I didn't go with my original plan and cut down some grade 5's, would have ended up with a cone-head...

Also take a look at this site:
    http://earplugstore.stores.yahoo.net...-children.html
and click on the link for "specific recommendations."

I have no idea if these brands are available in NZ but might give you some ideas.
