How very interesting... I wonder how long that's going to last?

I used to get the strap at primary school at least once a week....and caned at college often. If I hadnt had that discipline - id be a serial offender and spend most my life inside Id guess. Instead of it being turned around like its ended up. (Thank you Marist 70's/80's !! )

But these days. Hmm. Suspect all them pommy lawyers are rubbing their hands and advertising outside the schools. 'Reasonable force' for a Lawyer is like 'cheating' to the wallabies. All a matter of definition.
Marist?? So you were a choirboy? Better not let Graemeboy get ahold of you!
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
    we will remember them

Nah, never allowed near the choir.
Yeah - the Maris Brothers and Fathers - some good old 'school' instruction. Helped a lot of problem kids sort their lives out.

And yes - every outfit has its miscreants - which has led to the 'turn the other cheek' etc etc jokes over the last 40 years or so. Over it.

You can imagine my dismay when my son went to play for Marist St Pats upon leaving school...

I have a few little darlings I'd love to be able to use "reasonable force" on! I was horrified to find out we can't even officially keep them in after school without issuing 24 hours notice beforehand.

The thing is, I (ahem) accidentally pushed a kid into a carpeted wall once while breaking up a fight in my room. Was a large boy who was all threatening to have me up for assault (only got so far a the verbal threat though) until I laughed in his face and rolled my eyes. He said I could have caused him brain damage - I had to bite my tongue to not say "I have no idea how you'd tell the difference".
I lahk to moove eet moove eet...

To show that they are serious, they should issue individual teachers with tasers!

Wait a minute. You are in Manurewa but work on the Shore?
Otherwise......were the walls carpeted in concrete?

An old acquantance of mine went to James Cook high - some interesting stories about full contact rugby being played on concrete and steel poles...

Think of the dramas once the kids work out how to make the Taser go missing for a few hours - fun behind the bike sheds!!!

yeah, that kinda thing is a big can of worms.

most kids are fine. there there are some that dont realise they are being ass holes, some dont mean to be, some cant help it because their brains are not wired up right during adolescence.

however, some of them are nasty little fuckers, but they are rare.

such is human nature though.thats what makes the job interesting.
