As far as the timing of dates for the 2012 series goes,I'd suggest you direct your questions to the roadrace commission chairman,Not Kiwibiker,His contact details are available on the website nobody seems to visit
The timing of the 3 south is rounds is decided by the clubs not MNZ/road race commission. We are also limited on dates when 3 consecutive weekends are available..... after all the car clubs have had there pick of the weekends we are presented with whats left.
In previous years we have followed the V8s by one week at each track..... this is a pain as the track is generally littered with debris (or remenants of last lap oil slicks) and the paying public have spent the previous weekend spending their "hard earned" at these meetings.
This year we were able to preceed the V8s which hopefully will give better track conditions and a chance to encourage punters to watch bikes instead.

Hope this makes some sense of it................... but as we know you cant please all the people all the time.

I think the crowd that goes to Paeroa would disagree with you

Having any events that you have to travel between islands at peak times is fairly silly though

Thanks mate, that makes some sense of it. No choice but to pay up or stay home. Have you a Ninja in the shed yet?

No not at all,It was mostly to give the guys doing the Nationals a chance to recuperate and if anybody was keen to do Paeroa it would mean it wasnt between rounds,As I understand it the cock up was when AMCC booked their date without consulting anybody else and then there were no dates available at Manfeild

Yep............. i think AMCC had actually confirmed a date before us at MCC had finally decided.
But im sure they have the same problem of car clubs (and in case of HD every man & his dog) wanting track time/dates.
Its simple...............make motorcycle racing more prominant/cost effective than cars .............. and we will have the "pick of the dates" instead....................... here we go again

If you ask (I'd hazzard a guess) 90% of the teams competing at the NZSBK Championship they would tell you that they think January meetings in the middle of school holidays is exactly the time it should be:

    1. Mechanics are available to travel
    2. Most company's shut down at this time so no extra time off work for competitors / team members
    3. More Holiday house accommodation is available to rent at this time

Plus I'm sure there are other ligit reasons too. MNZ and the clubs running them got this right this year (for point 1 alone!).

Sad to say mate,But thats never gonna happen,Its hard enough for most guys doing the Nats to make it now,If you increase the costs ten fold there wont be many fronting and thats what it will take to even get it to the same level as the cars.

As far as"here we go again",Not this Kiwi,Im gonna go have some fun myself this year and apart from 1 or maybe 2 juniors I'm not helping anybody out,When the chequered flag drops at Taupo(If they have a round there)Im done!!!

Obviously money is not an issue for some teams, who can afford Holiday homes, mechanics and all of January off. I think Sarah311, tongue in cheek, was referring to the 10% of us who work for a living, and who will be doing the Nats out of the back of a ute again.

    Whooow there Billy,

As stated it is when the circuit is available mate and dates were flying out the door. As I understand it there were no dates available for Manfield anyway, taken up last year!! So no one to consult!

The car guys are the ones with the money and are filling their boots with weekend dates through the season at all of our circuits.

We are bloody lucky to have HD with a cost of 60k plus and the loss made last season, if we have a similar weekend there may be no rounds in the NI in 2013

Read the post again KG and you'll notice the "as I understand" quote,There were no dates for Manfeild in MARCH at that stage not the whole year,$60k to run HD??Wanna give us a break down of that.

As you have probably noticed by now ,The clubs organise their own dates and obviously without consulting MNZ,The idea of leaving Feb free was suggested too me by an MNZ official,Add too that the fact the only club interested in running a round at Manfeild was MCC and theres your reason why theres no round there,Cant please everybody as Swerve has already stated,Of course theres nothing stopping you getting off your butt and helping MOMCC to organise a round there,Its not like the Shirriffs name is unheard of within the club!!!!

I'll take that at face value RobGassit in that you are not referring to me with this post. I hate to think of what I have invested into this sport $$$ wise (just like you no doubt) and it really doesn't matter what team you are in or not, money is ALWAYS an issue. Bigger team, bigger bills. The 10% you refer to that 'work for a living' mostly would find it easier to take your annual leave in January when most company's shut down. This was partly the point. January is more suitable for more people.
