The R1 taking it's name of course from it's predecessor the YR1

in 1967 a far more ground breaking machine & if course more advanced even now as having the correct number of strokes. Almost 45 years ago & hp/litre hardly progressed.
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.
I would have said drain the 98 and use 91 octane. Can make quite the difference.
Keep it in mind if troubles persist.
Racey
Competition two strokes would have reason to run higher octane If There Motors Are Built For It!
But your talking Moped.
Unless it's had compression work done, or spark advance, it's designed to run on 91.
91 will certainly help it Start easier as the flame front burns faster.
and if the motor is old, it's propabley down on compression anyway.

NO, no, no you're not concluding the thread yet surely! No-one has been insulted about their heritage/choice of bike/religion yet!
Here is my 1st bike experience;
1, buy an old run down RT360 yamaha.
2, test ride to be sure it goes
3, get it home and ride it for about 10 min until it stops
4, spend weeks trying to restart the thing, where everynow and then it will fire out the exhaust with a huge long blue flame. Alternately it will kick back like a bastard, jarring every joint in your 14yr old leg
5, finally get up enough courage to start removing things to establish cause, starting with carburettor and culminating in flywheel where;
6, find that flywheel to crank taper fit is more worn than a hookers g string. This has in turn caused the woodruff key, and subsequent replacements, to shear to the point where someone has had to loctite the flywheel on. So it has been revolving bit by bit on the crank meaning that timing is out but every now and then it comes right round again to the point where it fires up briefly or is in the right place to fire up a flooded exhaust pipe full of petrol, scaring, literally, the living shit out of the chooks!
7, by now the cheese like structure of the kickstart shaft housing is worn and starts to crack rendering the whole lot into the parts bin.
Oh joy!
NEXT!!!!!
Only a Rat can win a Rat Race!
If you emptied your house out of chinese made products how much would be left smart arse?
however, it has better brakes and better rubber than the Yamaha Jog and the Suzuki thing, the Honda seemed overpriced.
So yes the bike is a better deal and was a better over all spec than the jappas, had more storage also and better seat.
Headlights are brilliant so Im happy with the young fellas purchase.
There is no problem now, but I will get the carbs checked out tomorrow.
