Jeebus, an entire season played away from home, they lose the final against a Reds side who had had two weeks off and you're calling them tired and old?? What do you call the other 13 teams that finished below them?

    Case in point my arse.
The Reds took home the jewels and "that" is what the whole tournament was about!

Second is simply the best of the rest .... fact of life!

How many times has the "unofficial best team in the world" got their name on the RWC?

These tournaments and their trophies are the only measure that international rugby officialdom and fans recognise .... faced with the prospect of "officially" winning the WRC New Zealand has a well established record now for failure!

    Case in point indeed.

Simply "wanting" or "claiming" to be the best is not good enough, you have to close the deal!

That's why NZRFU were so keen for the establishment of the WRC tournament .... ouch!

These tournaments are about best on the day not the best team. Many reasons can cause the best team not to be the best on that one day, take food poisoning for instance. In NZ's case we it is usually someday well before the finals and involving a team of surrender monkeys, but hey

ANYTHING can happen in a sudden death style tournament. The AB's are still the greatest rugby team in the world.

......and 61% of NZers polled agree with you.
Some of those Aussie players will never wear the green/gold again ...it happened here in NZ in 1986 I think?... the 'Baby Blacks' played France and were beaten.
They were picked because of the unsanctioned tour of SA and those that toured were stood down upon returning to NZ. They were quickly brought back into play to replace those that were in the beaten team a week earlier.

It's weird eh. So many Kiwis will knock shit out of the AB's if they don't win the WC...but you can't win everything all the time!

There was a time when the AB's were in a class of their own, has not been that way for years now..the rest of the rugby world caught up real quick once we showed them how it was done.

Comes and goes mate, the Saffas always gave us a go back in the day. But we've taught them all good of late!

We all know that answer. BUT...even a blind man will know we should've won it in SA, but for a nasty case of food poisoning. So we'd then have won it twice...just like Aust and SA...that'd be a fairer pic of the state of things. I'd be pretty surprised if we don't win this one though.

Our national teams in a number of sports have a fairly good record for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, so not putting any money on this one.

Aussie's thought that very same thing in 87' thats how I came about getting a ticket for the final, they were beaten by France on home soil...Some of the Australians that had tickets to the final sold them real cheap and went Home.

C'mon, South Africa weren't even allowed to play in the first cup, otherwise we might not have our name on it at all!

That's bullshit. We were that much better than every other team that year we would've wasted them.

Isn't that the same attitude we have had prior to and following every other RWC too! .... Are we actually living in the real world?

Aussie by comparison are more likely to blood in new young players and take a chance on them to perform!

It has often been these young exciting players that have ultimately smoked our old guard and stolen our thunder!

Didn't anybody notice the "REDS" exciting young players smoking the tired old Crusaders recently? Case in point!
ZZZZZZZ not from Otago by any chance?Last time you lot had anything to get excited about was in 56,let it go.
