Oh God its started again Collectively we convince ourselves (and the ABs) that the cup is in the bag and all they have to do is turn up.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........

I'm not talking about winning 'all the time' at the WC mate, I mean all the time year in year out. The Tri Nations, Bledisloe Cup, Northern Hemisphere Tours...those sorts of things. We're the number ONE ranked team in the world for a very good reason. We WIN more games against the opposition that matter than the opposition that matter do against us. Embrace it.

Can't see where I said that all we have to do is turn up. Show me where I said that?

I believe I said I'd be surprised if we didn't win this one though. I'll give you a few reasons why I think this.

1: We're at home. Our record at home is fucking awesome. Strangely enough, last time we played the WC at home, we...WON the fucking thing.

2: The core of the cuurent AB team have played together at the highest lever now for quite some time, they know what it takes, and have won plenty of games, even when having to come from behind, under immense pressure.

3: Man for man, we're the best equiped team in the tournament.

4: Rugby is won up front. The flashy Aussie backs are one thing, but come WC time, their forward pack is gonna get smashed. The Saffas, will match us up front, but IMO lack the finishing skill we have.

5: We're not scared of the garlic munching ball bag grabbers. Yes, they stink when you get up close and personal with them, but so what. We've got some enforcers in the team this time round that will be given free range to sort the snail tickling poofs out if they touch us where only women should.

6: We won't have food poisoning.

    7: We've learn't our lessons.

    8: Oh..and we're at home.

And anyway...if we get beat, we can always pretend we've got food poisoning...

Go the mighty AB's!!! I've already gone through a couple of 12 packs of white Steinlarger can packs!!!

My beef is with the coach not the "All Blacks", I do not believe that Henry should have been retained after the last RWC.

Likewise, I do not support the "Wallabies" but I would like to see them win for Robbie Deans sake.

Unfortunately both scenarios compromise my loyalty to New Zealand ... it makes me feel bitter and twisted.

Also making me feel very uneasy is our "factual" record at RWC events, it does not compute with our undying expressed belief that we are the best team in the world!

That fantasy is not doing us any good, we have to re enter the real world and the sooner the better IMHO.

That is my reason for posting a little negatively toward NZ rugby on this thread.

Well said that man, I have a very similar view of things except as an "Aussie" I have no qualms about fully supporting Rob's Wallabies, expect a Trans Tasman final to the WRC.

undying expressed belief that we are the best team in the world!
Right now the Springboks are the "best team in the world" only because they are the current world champs by years end we'll know who the "best team in the world" are in 2011, bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla
    Who really cares because what really matters is;
The second best team in the world is ALWAYS the Canterbury rugby team
Canterbury the ONLY team I truly & unreservedly support

But I digress back to the thread theme Samoa vs Wallabies, here's a surprise news item & an unlikely allegiance.

If a boxer with a big fight program substituted himself with another boxer during sparing sessions in order to rest him for the big event, how do you think he would perform on the night of the match?

It is certainly a very fine line between match fit and being fit for the game!

We have seen the effects of this with this in Henry's rotation program.

Once the players are at the required match fitness the deciding factor is the top two inches ... "attitude"!

That is where we have been defeated (choked) in not having the mental attitude to defeat perceived "lesser" teams in the semi finals etc because all the focus has been on the final but before we even get there!

They vehemently blamed John Mitchell for that against Australia but somehow Henry was absolved responsibility for the same thing against France!

It's not over until the fat lady sings and there is just no substitute for winning, even for the best team in the world, they get paid the money, it's what they do and what they are required to do is WIN! RWC

That was more of an indictment on the knee jerk reaction from NZ than a fair comment on Mitchell's coaching ability. A pox on the NZRU & the reactionary fans in NZ. This is when they lost Robbie Deans too, so I hope they live to regret it
The Wallabies got to the final on the merits of one good game all season, actually it wasn't a good game it was a fucking blinder. Stirling Mortlock stole the ball & ran away with it 20 minutes & 20 points later the AB's entered the game, played well despite feeling the heat, but it was all too little too late.
That's the thing about the Wallabies sometimes they'll do what it takes no less & certainly no more...

Ahhhh, nope. That makes them the current world chamions, far from the best team in the world. That has been for a while, and will be for a while the Ab's. It's called ranking. As in golf and tennis etc.
