    Hey bro,

I was looking at a GPRv4 at one point as well.

I found quite a few posts online from people complaining about leaks after 2-6 months (even with the v4). The GPRs apparently leak for the first few days and are then supposed to settle down. GPR seemed good about fixing them but it meant sending it back to the US… fuck that.

I could be wrong but them but there are other dampers for similar money that people seem happier with.

    • Scott are good and cost just a little bit more (and are rotary).
    • Hyperpro is supposed to be good as well and are a bit cheaper (but are linear)
    • Ohlins cost a bit more but I couldn't find any complaints about quality plus there’s NZ service if it ever needed looking at

If riderdiscount doesn’t work out try motomummy. I got an exhaust and some bits through them and they ship fast.

Scotts used to be good but since the contract ended for Ohlins to make 10000 units per year for them they are getting parts made in China. More profit, lower quality and longevity. We refuse to sell them.
All but one of the dampers listed suffer momentary cavitation on stroke reversal because they are not properly pressure balanced.
Personally I think rotary dampers for road application are overkill and theres a not insignificant weight penalty. If they were ''the biz'' in that application MotoGP bikes would have them
There is no official and fully equipped service for GPR here in NZ
There is service here for Scott as we CKT are the only people that have all the right tools for them and a test jig Plus main rebuild service parts ( genuine Swedish parts )
There was no service for Hyperpro ( not even from the distributor ) until we made adaptors for them so we could bleed on our multi thoushand dollar vacuum bleeder
FULL service and parts for Ohlins, in keeping with what our principals in Sweden demand

    Go to know

If a Hyperpro started leaking could you sort that out?
I saw a CKT refurbished Ohlins, are they good as new after they've been through the shop?
