Shitty rock and a hard place

Long story short my cousin knocked up his girlfriend... found out she was knocked up and dumped her (tosser

). She is hardcore Christian and so won't abort the baby.

My cousin and his immediate family, which happen to be my only family in NZ want nothing to do with the mother or the baby.

I'm super excited to have a little niece/nephew as I missed out on the first 8 years of my other niece & nephews lives. So this is so cool for me, and I don't mind the mother, she's pretty cool.

So I want to be a part of this kids life, but if I do I will effectivley be taking sides and my family will cut me out like they are cutting her out.

I know they don't sound like they (my family) are worth the effort giving this situation as an example, but they are still my family none the less...

What you reckon?

Family's can be not fun at times Tammy.
Its a tough one really...gotta go with your what head says...dont let emotions cloud what you heart is telling you.
If you are mates with the girl involved and continue to be mates then that matters alot too.

you did well... my politness is nowhere near that nice in this situation!

Its a long complicated story why my aunt & cousin are being like this... all at the fault of them-selves. The mother is the innocent party in this, and her only fault is loving my tosser of a cousin. Which I tried to tell her months ago, but love is deaf (and dumb) and this is where it has ended up.

I want more-so to be in this baby's life then to back down to my familys whims of selfishness. Just can't seem to wrap my head around not having family here...

First things first, smack your cousin upside da head & get him fixed, he obviously cannot handle the responsibility that comes with having them.
Is the mother ok with you wanting to hang out with the baby? if so then do what you want, don't let other peoples emotions/issues get in your way, family or not.
