Money?...what good did that do her? In that regard would someone like Britney Spears be worthy of much much more respect due to her earnings?

Amy was famous for being an addict, that's nothing to celebrate.
We all have weaknesses, some are simply more destructive than others.

Money? Hey...I could be wrong, but I wouldn't mind betting at some stage she gave some away.

And she may be remembered for dying as an addict, but that's wrong too.

Long shot here (not), but I bet you like music by bands such as The Doors, Pink Floyd, Jimmy Hendrixs, Nirvana etc etc. Music and drugs anyone? She's hardly the first star to die too young. The fact you don't like her music doesn't make it any better.

Just the way I was brought up I guess.

I beg to differ. But again, it's all to do with personal taste.

    (1) Nobody said the dead are above reproach that I noticed - but in my books nobody is. A bit hard to tell a deady anything though.

    (2) Hell, of course he is - he's still alive eh..

Amy doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as people who have made a real contribution to music.

The only one in that list in her league is Kurt Cobain.

And apparently one that is only black and white

I think it is sad when most people die, especially young
Her death is no way unexpected but sad that she was obviously such a tortured soul and was not able to drag herself out

And there you have it. If you liked their music, it was heroic to die young with alcohol and drugs, if not...not.

A straight up question for you. If one of your children came gloriously unstuck in the same fashion, how would you react to comments by others like yours, towards your child?

I dont know why, but for some reason, I am hedging my bets that she died either or alcohol poisoning, or a drug overdose.

Either way, What a sad age to die at. She had her whole life ahead of her but she chose to do nothing about her problems. She let them overshadow her until the point where they got the better of her.

    RIP.

She was famous for her music first, then became well known for being a famous addict. If she hadn't made a name for herself in some other way no one would be talking about this.
