Yup I think it's great value and really appreciate the organisation that must have gone into creating this all, especially since it's all non profit. There's nothing else like it around Auckland so I'm very thankful. Can't wait!

It's good to see enthusiasmI always enjoy watching motards for a bit (easy to sidetrack me though). Wait till you see Toby heading around, he is impressive to watch (he is racing Taupo tomorrow though).
JC and Wendy do an awesome job running the joint and keeping us under control.
Hey guys just a quick question in case somebody knows- where the best place to get skateboard wheels/axle slider wheel type things? Thanks.

Oldies out there, brace yourself for an increasing amount of this. (sad, but a reality, at least in the short to medium term. Oh, and racefactory, please don't take offence, that wasn't intended as a slur, just an observation.)
I don't know what is up in Auckland, I'm sure someone will help but an industrial plastics wholesaler is a good bet, they may have cheap offcuts.
I advise against the REALLY cheap skateboard wheels, when I tried them I found they were all foam shit in the centre and almost vaporised on contact with the track. (I crash a bit)

Is wood allowed for axle sliders and protection? Bit easier to obtain.

I usually get my nylon from Mulford Engineering (used to be ludowichi plastics), 12 Henderson Place, Otahuhu. off Church St. Reasonably good help and great selection, will even cut it for you.
I got mine from Dotmat engineering, they used to have a branch on the shore but closed it, now they are in Otatuhu somewhere I think. Failing that try a skate shop, but engineering plastic will last a lot longer, the skateboard wheels I used to start with didn't crash well.
Yep... I am ready to go.
Bike is looking mint... just hope it stays that way. Dam spare motor lets it down being all old looking.
Not a good start to A grade with a stock motor... next meeting i will have the race motor up and running.
Now i have to remember... stay away from henk... he wants a date with me.. (dodge i think) ... me I like girls..heee. If i start behind Henk... and am only 3sec a lap slower he might not get to lap me... I am sure he will ride extra fast just to try and catch me.... mouse and cat comes to mind..!
Anyway looking forward to tomorrow.

I went to http://www.dotmar.co.nz/ and got a bit of Delrin/Acetal and got it turned up on a lathe by a friend, you could make your own without a lathe if you had a small bandsaw and a drill press... it cost me $60 for the plastic but it is worth it, the stuff is hard as crap and holds up very well in a crash, then about $10 for the Threaded Rod and nuts and washers, could spend more on a stainless threaded rod if you want, zinc plated is fine though and cheaper. hey what area are you in, i know a lot of engineering shops around akl, i can prob suggest one close by.
I got my skateboard wheels from the Skate shop in Kyber pass (Auckland city)
Just asked if they had any old wheels and this guy brought out a whole box and said grab what you want.
Thanks to all for a great day today!
Some good racing, huge turn out & Great weather
Cheers
Huge turnout. Some "interesting" racing.
Ambulance ride No.1 is home with a couple of weeks off work (collarbone and bit of ribs). Found out that 3yo finds tugging the empty sleeve hilarious - but from the patient's point of view, damned painful. She also thought two feet in daddy's boots good fun but not much chop for walking.
How's ride No.2? you realise he can blame Henk for that as Henk encouraged him to ride today.
I had much more fun in F5, and hopefully the mechanic can get the bike better for the next round, but I was happy it didn't fall apart - can;t really complain about the mechanic, as he's also crash-test it for me (and wonders why we call him the crash test dummy).
Next round we have to remember that we've got a course to do, so racing may be delayed or just shortened? (not sure on which way that'll go).
Rick, next meet if your bike's not ready yet, maybe we should get you out on my F5 bike so you can wipe the smug look off Billy the Kid's face - he can then realise I'm just an old bag with absolutely no talent hahaha (he was riding well, and it was great to see him and young Robert having fun, I was stoked that Robert went past me in the last race, I'd been watching his shadow for ages, but wasn't prepared to just let him past). That was the most fun I've had at Mt Welly for ages, it was so nice to not have to put up with the nutters in B grade and still be able to ride.
