OKies so slowly getting my gear and everything else so im ready for brass monkey next year. Got good jacket and pants and lovely warm/waterproof things to go over top just looking for a some warm gloves and boots now. Pretty certain im gunna go with some sheepskin lined gloves the biggest trouble im having is boots. I want something that comes up relativly high so i was thinking of getting some motocross boots and some warm thermal socks lol.
Anyone have any advice on warm boots, recommended boots etc? The biggest trouble i have is that im a size 14-15 makes life a little difficult.

Just get some waterproof boots from a reputable brand.
My first boots were cheapies that started leaking after a couple of months.
If you buy cheap rubbish you end up paying twice when you have to replace them.

Right now I have a pair of Gaerne GRWs. Totally waterproof and going strong after 3 years and two crashes.
Think they were only $350 from cycletreads so they score well in value for money.

As for keeping your feet warm - wear warm socks. I got some possum fur ones that are toasty warm. If it's really cold - wear two pairs.

+2 I got some Sigma boots for $150 on special offer 3 months ago... it wasn't a very special offer as the sole has completely come away from the leather at the back, and they are basically falling apart all over the place. Didn't think I was buying cheap and they looked pretty well made... Ho hum!

Sidi Canyons are great.

I've had mine for about 5years now and never had so much as a dribble come into them. Down side is I saw a pair in the shop the other day and they're up to $540!!

+1 for SIDI Canyons. I put mine through serious sh!t and hard knocks everyday.

I got some Daytona boots from oversea's. Not cheap but the best thing since sliced bread. I ride in all sorts of conditions.Never even dreamed of wet or cold feet with the daytonas on. Whatever you do get gore tex on your hands and feet from my experience.

About 5 years ago I bought a pair of Oxtar (now known as TCX), this model or very similar

have lasted extremely well, so far completely waterproof (dry feet = warm feet)
not excessively priced.

Only maintenance has been regular coatings of sno-seal

Even at the Brass a couple of years ago when there was snow on the ground my feet stayed warm

If you want highish boots then the new Gaerne G Adventure boots are great. firm and supportive and well made and waterproof.

Great advise. I Just replaced some old boots with Gaerne's took awhile to wear in, but I love them now.

I have Gaernes as well and they are fine after three and a half years although I did have to do a glue up where the gear lever impacts on the boot.

Re MaxCannon's advice on socks - the wearing two pairs thereof: Make sure you get a boot big enough to do this if you need to. One of the causes of cold feet in any footwear can be too small a fitting. Squeeze up your feet and circulation suffers so feet get cold. I always go for a boot with plenty of room in it. It's not like I walk massive distances in them...(I hope).
