Someone missed the memo...

I'm afraid this gentleman made a bad error of judgement. As a senior police officer he has to be whiter than white, held to higher standards than Joe Citizen.
Knowing a TV reporter was on the spot he should have sucked it up and immediately paid the fine. Tough luck if he was following another vehicle - he is required to notify dispatch which he didn't.
Ok, he's entitled to defend the charge like anyone else - except he isn't anyone else.
Furthermore it appears that the investigation isn't finished so he might have been excused. I suspect he was worried about how it would look once TV1 reported so he decided to bite the bullet. Four months late. Poor judgement indeed.
Murder is a crime!..... unless it was done by a policeman!

Hey, kids! Captain Hero here with Getting Laid Tip 213 - The Backrub Buddy!
Find a chick who’s just been dumped and comfort her by massaging her shoulders, and soon, she’ll be massaging your prostate.
Yes - I agree ..
Yes. How many times have we said here - Just pay the fine - and here's a cop doing something wrong - he should "just pay the fine" like everyone else ...
If he'd paid the fine there would probably be no publicity and no criticism here ... sure off duty cops get caught speeding more than we know about .. Cops are human .. they stuff up like this ... just admit it and take the rap .. it's not like it's a crime that's going to cost him his job ...
"So if you meet me, have some sympathy, have some courtesy, have some taste ..."
The expectations of people that Police behaviour should be high is just a game for the perennial disgruntled.
They just use it as leverage to be outraged when cops do the wrong thing. Then feign the "oh we expected so much better than that" righteous path.
They pretend to be soooo shocked and angry when clearly they never had those high expectations in the first place.
KB 101 stuff.
