    Bad news

Sadly the back track at Manfield is not available Feb, March or April.

I would be happy to use our Taumarunui booking for the GP event if that has support.

    Any other thoughts??

    Big thumbs up

I personally would like to see it at Taupo before the end of the year. As Richban says,
"If it were next year as has been suggested it would have be uncontested for 2011. And we can't have that."

For me Taupo is also the traditional location.
Yes 4 strokes are for homos. Homo-sapiens that is, who have realized bigger is better.

perhaps using the old (No3??) track over the back?? might be a cheaper option.

Yes please, our fast 2-strokers would just love to strech their leggs on the back straight.

A GP has been run on that track twice, both times by the Hamilton club. They put a chicane at the start of the straight which worked well. Me and Jim lapped third place one year.

But as long as the GP is held before June 2012 then it has been contested for this season. No different to when the AMCC held the GP in Feb/March(???) and then it was held in December at the TRRS. Same year but different seasons.

Well it makes sense to me anyway.

    As you were

For the record Qkkid was in my bed, not the other way round

If we get a race together I think we will need to think about safety a little closer. If we had 30 laps of the 2.2km circuit (should be close to 40 mins) there would be a hell of a lot lapped traffic in battles. Historically the speed difference between riders has been quite large. If it was wet you would have people on slick's and on wets and god knows what else. I for one want everyone to have a chance at doing well and getting a chance to beat there time from last year. On a smaller track it could be carnage. Track 2 Taupo has worked in the past. Also the track is more about riding than out right power. Proven by Andrew A winning his first GP on a near stock bike. I think the GP should be about hard racing. You never know what may happen over a long distance. Bike's blow up, people fall off, anyone could win. Still waiting to hear back from the Taupo people. I am trying for the 4th of December day after the MotoTT track day. If anyone knows of any conflicting dates please post here. Yes Hastings round 11 is that weekend. We would need minimal support classes Motards, SS, Classics, don't know. If we get the usual 50 buckets we are over half way there.

Rich the round at Roys Hill on the 4th is also the last round of the NI champs in case you weren't aware.
Would make it a damn hard call deciding which of the two to attend.

    HOW ABOUT THE 27th December

Its a stat holiday this year so might be easier for people to make that date. Anyway not many options out there really. That at least is the same time as last year.

I do not know about any other mainlander but if you have the GP at Taupo I would drag my ass up to it. Just as long it is not right on Xmas/New years like the TRRS which was the only thing I hated about that meeting.
Compare Pornography now to 50 years ago.
Then extrapolate 50 years into the future.

Is there an option at Taupo for other December dates?

It is going to be impossible to please everyone. I suppose all we can do is keep an open discussion going and try and work something out that will make as many people happy as possible.

There are 2 big national events on the bucket calendar that have a real prestige. BOB and the GP. I have raced both and think that if you got more of the south up here and more of the north down there. It would be epic. If you combined the numbers you are looking at well above 100 bikes. Rather impressive really. If you won both you would be the national champ in my opinion. Out of interest has anyone ever done that?
