What about the 12-13 November? I see it's booked for the Pac Motorcycle Club Car round. Pretty sure it's the week before the 2 hour and N.I. round up in Auckland, though.

Out of interest, how many cars turn up to these sorts of events or do they mean sidecars? hahaha

Yeah short track like Tauramnui, much as I love the place isn't suitable for a GP.

For heavens sake lets keep it away from Christmas.

The GP has been held most times at Ohakea, but those days are gone. We've seen it at Ohakune & Foxton, Taupo old track, Auckland kart track (not suitable but in a pinch) & Taupo new track. Not sure if forgetting anywhere (NI).
Don't you look at my accountant.

Was one of these a street circuit ?? is that a option for us ? I for one would love it' but It would be a nightmare to organise ..

To me the simple solution is to book the 4th dec, have the GP at Taupo (great location and timing)

As for the Roys Hill round they have a round there, what, nearly every month? Reschedule the north island series to another meeting.
If people have time off ect booked in to travel to it im sure they could use that for the GP instead.

Not to get into a shit fight, but the NI rounds are 2 days, not the usual 2 hours practice and one day racing (NSR143, correct me if I'm wrong) - so, to my way of thinking, needs more organisation with the kart club to do.

It was booked early this year. We've got NI rounds in October (Kaitoke), November (Auckland) and December (RH). September isn't far away, and with the amount of people travelling for the NI rounds (not enough), not much time to organise something.

One possible way of doing it would be Saturday in Taupo for the GP, then head over to RH for the NI round, as it's not really that far away (distance wise), but could be a logistical nightmare for organisers.

It doesn't seem fair that someone has gone to a lot of time and effort organising a good (undersubscribed) series, only to have it pushed aside at the last minute.

I'm not really fussed either way, as chances are I'll just be taking my bike along to get "under the weather" and not even riding (especially Taupo). Then again, I'm not a race head, just a piss head, who gets too intimidated by the meat heads on track.

Anyway, that's my thought on it, I'm not organising anything, and will be told where I'm going.

27th suits Amy and me better as work dries up then and it's what its been for the recent years. The 4th I run into trouble with work picking up as in most service industries as people are trying to have stuff done before Christmas. But for this I'd take the 3rd off just for the intelligent conversations through amber coloured glasses the night before and/or after a days racing.

Anyone had any thoughts about overnight accommodation (as in could we stay at the track) or bulk booking the local camp grounds?
Yes 4 strokes are for homos. Homo-sapiens that is, who have realized bigger is better.

I can assure you there is nothing 'car' related at that meeting. We have a club meeting this week, I will bring the subject up.

Yeah both Foxton & Ohakune were street races & not really practical these days, esp Foxton which is now shopping & windmill sundays.

Ohakune was a tickle dangerous it has to be said. The end of the straight if you missed it went over rocks into a stream, if you missed the trees. I was always fast in that corner, but I never looked to see what was beyond till a few years later. I tumbled over Speedpro on the entrance to that corner, fortunately someway before the danger apex when Spee came past & braked, folding the front end like a map in a tourist's windscreen.

Well apart from the Chatham Islands Anniversary on the monday it looks free.

Still needs a club to agree to pick it up.

.. . .but it would make my other Taupo based thread applicable again.

Also need an MNZ permit a steward and some volunteers to flag and marshall etc (who should probably get paid if it's held at Taupo).
Also need riders who may even have to be prepared to pay more $$ to ensure that the club who picks up the event won't lose $$....

It can be done, if someone/s is happy to get involved and sort the above plus other things. Could be a huge risk to a club too...

Malcolm and I won't be able to make it but it would be awesome to see the event go ahead. On the other hand, would it really be so bad if it was contested before the end of the financial year??

Hey, full-credit to picking up the unenviable task of trying to organise bucketeers..

My 2c. Maybe another famous spreadsheet is in order (like bucket no.s version) to try and get commitment on dates etc??? Something like...turn-up regardless of date & location blahblahblah. This could also provide whichever club picks it up, some indication it won't break the bank?

Is it possible to get some sort of costing and/or cost of entry/garage hire. I'm happy to hire a garage again and help out as much as possible.
