    Bloody NZTA

Bought a tractor the other day a nice red one
To use on the small farm we have, occasionally this thing is going to need to be filled up with diesel. The fuel station is less than 3k's down the road.
I expext I would need to gas up about 3-4 times a year (it hold 100ltrs).

So I thought I'd do the right thing and register it $181 a year plus time charges (similar sort of thing to RUC) The thing is gong to do less than 24k's a year with a total time spent on the public road of 45mins - hour per year.

Makes for a very expensive top up each time!!! My bike trailer does more k's and spends more time on the road and that only cost $34!!

Thanked them very much for there time and bought a couple of 20ltr plastic cans on the way home

How much is ACC and how much NZTA? Perhaps you should target your rage at the government as that covers both and things like GST etc.

Ha ha, good point. I didn't get that far as to see the break down of the fee charged. Just chuckled to myself and politely left

Flick me a message with more details please and I'll see what the deal is and how we can get it down. That sounds a bit high.

Did they also tell you time licences are to be done away with in July? Doesn't sound like it.

One unit will last you forever, and it can go down as a b class for rego, which is piss all. I haven't got my book here with me, so I can't look up all the important bits, but its an MR2B, and doesn't cost much. Just don't try to register a forklift without all the right bits. Its a PITA

I just followed the 'notes' on the back of the form and answered all the questions.
It was being classed as a section 13 special vehicle I think
