Teacher surplus no surprise - Banks...
"ACT Leader John Banks today expressed sympathy for the hundreds of frustrated graduate teachers unable to find employment, but says this outcome is no surprise.

"This is what happens when Government believes it can 'pick winners' better than the market can - it doesn't work," Mr Banks said."

bwaaaaaaaaa ha ha ha haaaaaaaaaa... nothing to do with people wanting to be teachers then? Time to put the teachers union on the block. That'll stop people wanting to be teachers. fuckin idiot.

The reason people don't want to teachers is quite simple.
    They don't get paid enough.

and politicians think they know how the job should be done better than those doing the work.

That's true, and quite ironic if you know any teachers as they think they are experts on damn near anything. (my Wife, Mother, Brother & Sister-in-law are either teachers or University types).

The grads that Banksy is talking about would disagree with that or at least have remuneration near the bottom of the list.

Its quite simple really - those charter schools will need to perform to keep their grant.
To perform they will need good teachers, and good teachers want good money.
The problem with the current system (and I see this from close up every day) is that there are too many bad teachers in a system that can do nothing about them.

You make assumptions. To perform they will have to work the system, to work the system they will have to get the teachers to "cheat". Why do you think the USA movies and programmes have sooo many story lines about kids cheat their exams and being able to steal the test papers etc, its because it happens and is how the schools retain their funds. Good teachers will be driven out in favour of lazy cheating teachers because good teachers want the kids to excel where as the lazy cheating teachers are interested in the their, and by extension the schools, survival.

Actually you're the one making some big assumptions.
If you look at this mornings paper there's a story of (state) school that got caught cheating exactly as you describe.

    The ERA are not mugs.

So they are cheating already shows my assumptions were correct, now just wait until they are really given a reason to cheat, like their very survival depending on it. Oh and ERA can be handicapped or should I suggest to pay more attention to some schools and not others.

    They cheated and got caught.
Your assumption is that they'd get away with it.
Now you're assuming that the ERA can be bought (and have presented absolutley no evidence). You are starting to sound like Mashman...

And your assumption is that because you (yes you) don't know about it, it doesn't exist, even though there is evidence that 1 has already been caught.
