As for the perspective. I'm positive enough living in the now. Life is good and will continue to be good. My only concern is the future generations..........and how badly I have fucked them by enjoying now so much.
As for that link. I call bullshit on a few of those. It doesn't change my perspective, as I mentioned I am positive for what I have right now. But its very easy to say life is better because we don't need kerosene lamps.......... but we also spend about 30% less time with out kids due to having increased ability to work. So swings and roundabouts.
When I see people needing to sign up for 40 year mortgages to buy a house......I wonder if the grass really is greener, or the people who say that had life changes up while others went down.
Musical chairs if you will. I certainly know my sins for being able to have a comfortable life. I have balanced most of them with good gestures. But I know I could have done more.
Wrong, more knowledge does not equate to understanding less.
And no, that tiresome wee rant would not have been positive from a destitute third-world subsistence farmer, from a member of the world's top 5% income earners it's obscene.
You're correct about future generations, first world, they'll fuck it up because they've been stupidly sheltered from the consequences of their behaviour. Bad parenting.
Kerosene lamps is what you got from that article? What about the extra decade of life? What about the 400% reduction in infant mortality? Avgas must try harder with comprehension.
Not greener? What fucking planet are you on? NZ houses cost twice what they did a generation ago because they're more than twice the size and full of expensive shit your granddad couldn't have afforded even if it were available then.
If you regret you haven't done more with what chances you've had then I can only suggest that you've got more to come yet. I also suggest you could probably spend some of it to good effect by enumerating the benefits you enjoy compared to every other human ever to have walked the earth under your feet. Then you can explain to your kids what it takes to maintain that quality of life, 'cause there's every indication that they haven't got a fucking clue.
Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon
