ThatÂ’s been brewing for a long time although Brexit definitely not helping. ThereÂ’s a few other factors in play. In NZ good petrol tanker operators command a higher pay for the obvious ramifications if they hire cabbage drivers.
In UK tanker drivers get paid about same as rest.
Most other driving jobs you get premium high rise luxury cab due to nights away often and can basically live in truck.
DoesnÂ’t help that poms seem real adverse to working weekends and they like their trucks sitting in daytime traffic jams instead of pro night work. I Got paid nearly 50% higher salary when working weekends over there.
Their driver licence test even for cars is tough and they hold trucks to high standard as well.
The two practical tests are 45-60mins long, if you fail itÂ’s three week wait to get retest prob even worse now.
