This is merely the latest entry in a very long list of times the French did something to spite the British.

Because the check isn't being done by the British, it's been done by the French.

Who sets the rules for entry into France/The EU? That's the French and the EU - not Britains fault.
Who sets the policy for checks? That's the French and the EU - not Britains fault.
Who supplies the number of Staff to perform the checks? That's the French and the EU - not Britains fault.
Who are notorious for turning their nose up at the British? That's the French and the EU - not Britains fault.

So, whilst Britain may have left the EU, the French could/should have changed their staffing and their policies to adapt - they choose not to, because Fuck the English, knowing that it would be British tourists and exports that would be impacted.

So, you confirm my point - it's the EU and France spiting Britain because they are salty that Britain left.

Again, nothing about this issue has any responsibility on the British side - it is not British Checks nor British rules nor British Policy nor British Officials.

But to answer the question why:

Britain never said they didn't want to trade with the EU or travel to the EU. We said we didn't want to be ruled by the EU.

Britain was happy to uphold their end of the reciprocal agreement to allow goods and people from the EU into the UK without additional fuss - the expectation is that France does the same.

That is not Arrogance - that is the basis of International Co-Operation.

However, as I said above - this is nothing new, We've been doing this with France for the better part of 1,000 years and almost always end-up on top. If France continue to be dicks, they may find that the British Government might start taking a harder line on the French assistance to illegal Migrants crossing the Channel and may cease the 55 Million pounds it pays to France.

Just goes to show, if nothing else, how much bad faith there was on the part of the EU - but again, nothing new for those with eyes to see.
