Not a long way, Tennessee is a state and there is a ban there. The idiocy is contagious and is spreading.

I have amended the post - slightly.

Can you link to where it stated that it is banned? I see it's been flagged but I can't find any mention of a ban on the book. I'm happy to be proven wrong but so far I've only found attempts to have it banned, as all three of my easily found links above show. And a quick search of bookstores in Tennessee shows that exact book is still available. So it's obviously not banned.

    Smells like *breathes deep* Hypocrisy.

I will admit, I don't like to see books Banned - but considering what is being pushed (and having read a bit of what their intent is) - my benefit of the doubt is squarely on the side of the Parents.

If they are unsure, remove it from a school library - Kids that want to read it, can still go to a public library or even but it themselves.

I will also admit that I chortled at the Bible being pushed for a banning.

Elon Musk among experts urging a halt to AI training

"The Future of Life Institute is a not-for-profit organisation which says its mission is to "steer transformative technologies away from extreme, large-scale risks and towards benefiting life".".

"benefiting life" is having the option to do your job yourself, be AI assisted or be AI replaced, each without losing their salary. lol@the brains trust of humanity plumping for trying to stop it as it risks "benefiting life". And even though that's the best they can come up with, it's enough for everyone else to follow blindly. lol@the predictable business response. You'd think they'd be happy with less human resource headaches, but apparantly not. Businessmen eh, doing it for the money no matter what they say to the contrary

You have to be real stupid to use something that will ultimately take away jobs and give big brother too much intel. Hopefully though with only stupid people feeding it the system will be full of useless junk information.
And it just makes people who can write and research real material even more valuable.
The thing with AI is it never makes a decision as it been programmed to be non discriminatory. Just ask what brand is best for task x etc
It’s like reading a sterile road test review by a writer whose scared of upsetting manufacturers vs old school fastbikes mag where they called a spade a spade.

OK I had a look, there are a lot of links but it does seem you are right. For now. Remember, these people are inbred and tend ot be rather slow on the uptake.

Coz business as usual hasn't already handed them the planet on a silver platter using infinite economics on a finite planet? but, somehow AI would fuck things up further? For who? Who is trying to keep people in their jobs? Musky et al... but let's do it their way coz it won't lead to yet more intel. Ed Snowden/Assange/Manning already told you the infrastructure in place with regards to the 5 eyes. But sure, AI is gonna make it worse ...

That's what, the 3rd time where you've declared a book banned by a Conservative State/Country/Group and you have been proven to be incorrect on it.

My Dear Pritch - perhaps at this time, you might want to consider that when you see something on Twitter or Facebook all in an uproar about the latest 'Banned book by eeeeeevil Republicans' - that perhaps they are being a teensy bit economical with the Truth.

School bans Dolly Parton song "rainbowland"

In Judeo-Christianity, the rainbow is associated with God's protection, as it is described in the Book of Genesis (9:11–17) as a sign of the covenant between God and man.

However, this song points to acceptance of different types of people, clutch the pearls, pass the smelling salts, we must protect the children from knowledge of people who choose to walk a different path - but don't do anything about school kids being blown to bits and murdered on a near weekly basis, cuz that would just be dumb eh.

    https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...sial-rcna77145

The highly inflammatory lyrics the poor children must be protected from below......

    "Hey Miley
    It's me, I'm in Nashville
I'm on my way to Dollywood, busy as you are
Can't get enough stuff to do, can't
But anyway, I'm excited about singing with you
So I'm just gonna turn my, CD player on with you singing
I'm gon' put this on a cassette
Sing along with it, and then I'll run you off a CD later
    Oh, I'm so high tech
I got a flip phone, too
But anyhow, see what you think
    And um, here I go"
    Come on
    Living in a Rainbowland
    Where everything goes as planned
    And I smile
'Cause I know if we try, we could really make a difference in this world
    I won't give up, I'll sleep a wink
It's the only thought I think, you know where I stand
I believe we can start living in a Rainbowland
    Living in a Rainbowland
Where you and I go hand in hand
Oh, I'd be lying if I said this was fine
All the hurt and the hate going on here
We are rainbows, me and you
    Every color, every hue
    Let's shine on through
Together, we can start living in a Rainbowland
    Living in a Rainbowland
The skies are blue and things are grand
Wouldn't it be nice to live in paradise
Where we're free to be exactly who we are
Let's all dig down deep inside
Brush the judgment and fear aside
    Make wrong things right
    And end the fight
'Cause I promise ain't nobody gonna win (come on)
    Living in a Rainbowland
Where you and I go hand in hand
Oh, I'd be lying if I said this was fine
All the hurt and the hate going on here
We are rainbows, me and you
    Every color, every hue
    Let's shine on through
Together, we can start living in a Rainbowland
    Living in a Rainbowland
Where you and I go hand in hand together (let's do it together)
    Chase dreams forever
I know there's gonna be a greener land
We are rainbows, me and you
    Every color, every hue
    Let's shine on
Together, we can start living in a Rainbowland
    "Hey Miley
Look, I know it sounds scrambled when I'm singing it with you
Wish I could do a little better
At least, I might not get it all the way through
'Cause I'm not sure of the structure without you
But I think this could work well, don't you?
    If not, like I said
I'll write that love song for you
You probably wrote it about some boy you loved, didn't ya?
    Well"

I mean... I'd ban it on the grounds that it's Dolly Parton and Miley Cyrus....

But jokes aside - Parents are saying 'We don't want this' and people keep trying to push it, then they wonder why the Parents are becoming more and more hostile to anything remotely related.

Now - seeing as you compared 'People who are different' with 'school kid being blown to bits' - let's run those numbers:

19,000 Gun Murders in 2020. Pretty bad. If we limit those to just School shootings (the data is a bit patchy) - I get a number of 175 in all 'Mass School Shootings'.... Since 1999. This is in line with most of the Data I've seen on this - which is the overwhelming number of Firearm murders in the US are Gang Violence based and single incidents.

Since you mentioned it in another thread about Wombs - let's remind ourselves 175 in 20+ years vs 900,000 in a single year.

I don't have any hard numbers as to what the LGBTQ+IA123ABCXYZ death rates are - but I did find this: https://www.thetrevorproject.org/res...de-in-the-u-s/

This is an Advocacy site and gives an estimate of a total of 712,990 in a year for Attempted suicide. If I assume just 1% of those are successful, that's 7,000 dead kids. In a Year.

175 in 20 years vs 7,000 in a single year.

Certainly, if you had full detail you could parse out those where the attempt had nothing to do with their identity - so let's assume 10% of those 7,000 are as a result of the Identity.

    175 in 20 years vs 700 a year.

So I ask you - which is the greater risk to Children?
