I mean, this is clearly wrong and not appropriate...

but it was to a council parking warden, so understandable...

The IRS is hiring special agents prepared to use 'deadly force' if needed and is paying up to $95,000... cheaper than closing the numerous loopholes that require such action I guess. It's the 1920's all over again.

Petrol at 40c per litre you say?

How long will that last? Considering how much income the government gets from petrol tax, a road-users charge is surely on the way. It's been tabled before and pushed back but you can guarantee it's coming, it has to. Yet it's notable by its absence in any government statement on EV adoption.

Funnily enough I was talking with someone this W/E about this as he has a company EV - he bought for a fast charger at home - $30 to 'fill up' - which is a 500 Km trip, not bad. However, if everyone was to switch to EVs - just the infrastructure needed and the amount of Electricity generation needed would be massive.

And the loss of tax income and costs of electricity generation will damn well guarantee the 40c per litre pricing will not stay, arguably it will possibly need to more than current levels of petrol cost (average weight of an EV is higher than a comparable petrol car so more roading repair work required).

And wear out tyres faster as an electric motor delivers maximum torque at all revs. I suspect that is why many come with low noise tyres so owners are alarmed at the sound of money sticking to the road.
A couple of the pro-ev reviewers have done vids on charging stations. The public superfadt charging stations charge a much higher rate than ordinary charging stations. Prob due to losses via heat in the higher voltage/amp delivery and the much sturdier cables/transformers needed.
If we had real media they’d be calling out the govt on this cheaper claim as others said it’s obvious they will just take from us all in other ways.

Never mind the generation, there is not enough minerals/precious metals for everyone to have an ev. Only watched about half this vid so far but he lays out the maths/scale of mining required/real world capability pretty well.

Australia to ban recreational vaping, crack down on black market... coz nothing prevents a black market like a ban.

I remember the first time I kept a vape inhale down. I hadn't had a nicotine hit like it in over 30 years and never vaped again as I realised I'd be taking in more nicotine than I usually do. Viva l'addiction.

They don't if you drive normally

    Obligatory:

My friend/mechanic/EV owner tells me that they run considerably higher tyre pressures to get maximum battery range. He thought they must be using special tyres. Apparently not.

A potential downside of EVs: if you're travelling on a cold day you can't turn the heater on. The heater can reduce battery range by 20%. Freeze ya bastards.
