Vote green if you want more costs passed onto renters and gauranteed rent rises every year. Also less rentals as many landlords will pull out of the market.

Not well thunk through IMHO. Virtue signalling to the people who like glueing themselves to roads.
Why would a landlord spend money on improving a property, which is the greens aim, if it takes many years to recoup the costs?
Even if little landlords sell up, more properties on the market doesn't necessarily mean more private ownership, it's too hard to get a mortgage.
More likely property companies will step in, increase their portfolios and do the bare minimum to squeak by the requirements.

Another part of the same problem is how expensive it is to build. And the costs are ever being driven up by beauracracy. It should be cheaper to build than buy, therefore old shitboxes that do not comply with almost ANY standards are selling for ridiculous money. Desperate potential home owners with low incomes feel themselves being sucked under.

I find all this shit deeply depressing. As we pay more money to compensate for endless select committees and public relations nonsense we are winding ourselves further into the bog. I no longer hesitate to build unconsented projects but even then, there can be considerable risk. Mostly, my work is not in glaringly obvious spots which attract attention…Our shortage of competant tradesmen is likely to be making things even more expensive…

If I pay the $1.50 per week to get access to better journalism from the Herald, does that mean they won't incorrectly point out errors?
They're. Short for 'they are'. As in 'they are a bit hesitant...'
This was to my mind an interesting little storm in a tea cup. Nigel Farage, a noted bullshit artist, produced this clip when his bank asked him to take his business elsewhere.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0F3OVfrQRA
Fans of Mr Farage were outraged. "If they can do this to him who will be next?" Etc etc. To their shame Tory MPs entered the fray. Farage is a proven liar and they should have known it would be unwise to rush to his defence on the basis of something he said.
Initially there were thoughts, that because the bank would not comment, he may have had some transactions that had triggered anti-money laundering actions by the bank. If suspicious activity is detected the banks are forbidden to disclose any information which could tip off guilty parties.
Thankfully the BBC has provided the answer. The bank in question is Coutts. This is a private bank for the very wealthy. They are open about their requirements, they are listed on the bank's web site. To have an account at Coutts you have to have a million pounds invested or on loan, or have three million pounds in savings with the bank. Farage evidently did not comply.
Farage claims the bank had not bothered about this during the previous ten years, which suggests he has failed to meet the criteria for at least ten years. Farage is also very upset at the BBC revealing his personal information.
There ar a number of entertaining YouTube clips from interested parties. Some from Farage supporters and some from sane people.![]()

Quotation marks indicate a cut and paste of Tams writing on Facebook. The (sic) - indicating "we know this is a mistake but that is what they wrote") would suggest the journalist recognised the mistake and flagged it accordingly, in which case the mistake is Tams, not the journalist. Journalists are not meant to alter another persons writing.

A short clip from Britain. Finding someone in any local Council who can talk sense is a challenge. Hopefully this guy can.
