Senator Tommy Tuberville, Republican, Alabama - or Florida? The confusion arises because the Senator represents Alabama but he owns no property there and has lived in Florida for years. That could be regarded as electoral fraud.

When the former college football coach arrived in DC to take his Senate seat he was asked by a journalist what the three branches of government were. He didn't know

Senator Tuberville is currently holding up over 300 senior military promotions because he believes the military should not be providing abortions. The military does not provide abortions, but if a serving member needs that service and it is not available where they are posted, the military will move them to somewhere it is available.

When Biden stumbled boarding a 'plane Tuberville made much of this as evidence that Biden was not fit to be President. Karma can be brutal.

Sometimes the world gets it right.

The Tory candidate for the Tamworth seat vacated by the deplorable Nadine Dories, who had resigned because she hadn't been given a seat in the House of Lords, had posted the attached flow chart. It was ages ago, he said. I didn't write it I just posted it, he said.

I was pleased to see this morning that Labour had taken the seat. The Tory candidate can return to well merited obscurity.

This is so hilariously stupid it should be in joke section. But it’s nailed stupid because of how many media outlets gave this oxygen when it was so obviously never going to work on so many levels.

If only one had the foresight to setup for this scenario. There’s so many angles on this. Sheer govt ineptitude that they can’t manage the process themselves and use military land etc. The massive profit of one man through the misery of many enabled by weak political choices….

Y'all will recall that Sidney Powell accepted a plea deal thus avoiding jail time. She, or her people, are now claiming that the plea deal was extorted from her.
Interesting. The trial was due to start the day after the deal was announced. The DA can now schedule a trial almost immediately if she wishes. There may be some serious discussions taking place about now.

Sidney always impressed as being a bit loopy. It was as if she really believed the idiocy about Hugo Chavez and the voting machines. She needs to smarten up.

He started a charity much like ol trumps

    Tommy Tuberville Foundation
Through its first five years, the foundation raised $289,599 but spent just $51,658 on charitable causes, tax records showed.n 2020, The New York Times reported that Tuberville campaign and foundation officials "produced internal records for 2018 that showed nearly $20,000 was raised for a temporary project to provide a retreat for veterans. But the records raised bookkeeping questions, since they showed more than $61,000 of 2018 revenue, roughly twice what the charity reported to the I.R.S. that year".

In 2021, the Washington Post reported, the foundation "reported it had $74,101 in revenue and spent just 12 percent of that, or $9,000, while $32,000 went to administrative costs (including nearly $12,400 to pay off a truck the charity purchased in 2018 for $27,369)". By the end of 2021, the foundation's website had gone defunct.

In an Alabama Daily News interview after the election, Tuberville said that the European theater of World War II was fought "to free Europe of socialism" and erroneously that the three branches of the U.S. federal government were "the House, the Senate, and the executive." He also said that he was looking forward to raising money from his Senate office, a violation of federal law.

They always were - but when all they could reach was the rest of the crowd in a public bar they weren't as visible.

Now they've got a megaphone. And a way of reaching other dickheads.

100% this. There have always been nutcases, just before the internet they had no reach other than a town square. Now every nutter has a soap box.

Not when there are people like Brian Tamaki and other aspiring politicians who can see something in it for them.
The show they made at Parliament should have opened eyes to what was going on in the background.

There are a number of these people receiving more than their share of attention: Liz Gunn, Julian Batchelor, Chantelle Baker, Kelvyn Alp, Philip Arps, Sue Grey etc. There are others but hopefully they've moved on. There was one local demented clown who travelled to Wellington to arrest Andrew Little.

I blame Jenny Shipley. She's the one who closed the funny farms.

I’m still of a mind that the internet might actually end up destroying our civilisation.

But it’s very convenient, I’ll give it that.

I’ve heard one influencer describe social media as “digital syphilis”, quite apt.

Our media has a lot to answer for. They seize on a lot of fringe views for east clickbait news articles pouring more gas on the fire.

There is one positive aspect though, hearing such views we disagree with is a sign of a healthy free democratic society. There’s several large nations where no other views are tolerated and it quite clearly doesn’t work out well for those that live there.
