I never said they weren't within their rights to present their views (He who pays the piper - right?) but the message within that view contains a moral judgement and an implicit lecture.

I'm asking what makes them think they've earned the right to assume the Moral highground. Was there a Vote I missed to make Gillette arbiters of what is/isn't acceptable Masculinity? Have they consistently acted in a manner as to be judged by both peers and customers to be virtuous?

Point is - you can't simply declare "I'm better than you, and therefore you should do as I say". And that's part of the Wider Backlash.

So how about the road safety ads? Wear seat belts, slow down, don't use a cellphone ..

    Ads for safe sex ...

There are plenty of ads that tell you what to do and how to behave ..
"So if you meet me, have some sympathy, have some courtesy, have some taste ..."

All of those are run by the Government - those who we Elect. If we think the Moral lecture we get from them has crossed some line, we can vote to change them.

    For the other 3 adverts:

The first one is a Challenge/invitation, not a Lecture - it's not asking Men to change their behavior but consider a different career path.

Same with the German one, it's a Challenge (although that one has a clear comedic element to it).

The second is interesting - I can see how you could interpret it as a Moral Lecture, but I'm not sure it is. It certainly is portraying an Ideal of Masculinity, it is also presenting a path to becoming a better Man. However, the difference is that it leads by Example, and more specifically - an Example that is universally accepted by Men. It's using an accepted, pre-existing archetype and linking it back to the message. It's not simply claiming the moral highground and then forcing something unearned upon us.

Burn it. Don't give it to those who need it. We want people who need clothes to buy clothes, cos that's fair.

Y'know, there's something deeply discouraging about the concept of ideas as "a field". Like "productive sector" it's almost like there's some place you have to go to do that shit. And put this wee hat on while you're at it.

Rather than both being a bit like breathing: a necessary function of living which you don't get to delegate, or sub out to some other poor schmuck.

:-) I'm quite happy to listen to people with expertise in fields that I'm not up to speed with but interested in. But it was a rather clunky way of expressing it.

Meanwhile in Venezuela... hundreds of thousands protest against the socialist cocksuckers who have transformed their country into a hell hole. Jeremy Corbyn will be having an aneurysm.

    And?

Their morality. Free speech doesn't require a vote dude.

You are constantly doing the same as they are, but just on your pissant little soapbox. Are you simply frustrated as their morality gains more and more popularity over your own?
