Thumbs up On This Day In History

    'Hello My Dearie' became
one of the first songs ever
    to hit the New Zealand
    airwaves when physics
    professor Robert Jack
    broadcast New Zealand's
    first radio programme on
    the 17 November 1921.
    He also found Radio Dunedin,
and had a hand in TV.

    Australian's first Holden

Australian's first Holden motor vehicle was launched on this day by GM Holden 1948 FX designed in Detroit. The actual company came from James Holden who was a saddler, then when saddles went out of vogue in the early 1990's he started upholstery and building bodies for cars and that's where Holden came from.

How many people on these forums know what happened on December 7th 1941?
Funny, not so much as a squeak from our journos on Tuesday.
    A Day of Infamy.
My Grandfather, served in WW1, in France and Germany, also WW2, though back here in NZ at Featherston POW Camp.
He knew many other service men and woman who fought in the pacific, he totally understood their fanatical hatred of the Japanese and always told me never to show up in Featherston with a jappa car or bike!!!
    True story.
Every day above ground is a good day!:

I saw mention on a US news site but NZ news organisations would be blissfully unaware.

America finally showed up (late) to WW2, after being given a surprise invitation.

    A Day of Infamy.:
It's a shame that this event is now seen as ancient history, if remembered at all. Guess we're doomed to repeat it

Actually ... the Japanese turned up a day earlier than their Declaration of war.

Fun fact ... USA actually fired the first shots when they sunk a Japanese mini-sub in the hours before the attack.

So it was Americas fault, they probably would have been left alone if not for that
