true - but in the morning the sun is on the far side of the bike if you want the water in the background. Afternoons are better out that way.

hmmm- we could go here - it's in the Bombays and works in the mornings

On the old north road, there's a nice 'S' sweeper that's just been repaved. Sheltered by woods, so you should be able to move around to get the best lighting/shade. Some good knee-down shots may be..?
Bowl out to my place sometime (Kumeu) and I'll show you a couple that come to mind... there is a nursery about 5 km from my place with a sweeping right hander that should be ok... good sight lines right off the apex as there is a road heading off there, just worried the Armco might get in the way - I'd need to check

Also a couple of good ones further down the road in Riverhead (sweeping right hander, downhill and a vantage spot off the apex), and more between Riverhead and Albany, some nice esses etc. There's another one about 1k from my place on Waitakere road outside the Saddelry and horse feed place (Board cres I think it is).

Shed big enough for 4 or 5 bikes at home too too if wanted... and a nice hot cuppa between showers.

PM me if you want but Saturday is out... maybe Sunday

hmmm.. that hill on the 22... PICK ONE!!!!!!
the thing with photo shoots, is that you have to make a couple of passes (or I assume so), and I won't want to turn back!!

The 22 is a bit of a trekk down there just to snap a few shots. Could be a bit far. I think out the west could be best.. or even out towards helensville/Kaoukopakopa/Silverdale way.. plenty of nice open quiet roads, and isn't too far from town.

End of the day, it's probably up to dave. I'm not taking over this thread too.. I've done enough posting for the week

the telephoto lens is an effort to get even better DOF like the Lou Martin shot of me on the Street Rod.
I like that shot of the Street Rod!!! I still can't seem to figure out the Depth of Field stuff you guys are talking about.

Here are some of my shots, but doesn't seem to have the DEPTH that your photos seem to have. I am assuming I need to ZOOM in more?

Next time you have one of these photoshoot events, I would be keen on coming along.

I've even found some calculators on line - but bit hard to access in the field on a bike.

Trouble is the telephoto is 86mm and a polarising filter is a quite expensive.

'Experience is a good school but the fees are high' - glad it's all disposable nowadays.
You'll be wanting to use the widest aperture you have. A fast tele lens helps a lot. For track use, see if you can borrow a 200 or 300mm f2.8 lens. For roadside shoots, because you can get closer, you can use something like a 85mm f1.8 which gives incredible DOF.

    google it.

but they look publication quality to me mate. The longer focal length of the zoom means that the 'field' of focus can be made quite narrow.

He used a 600mm lens and stood 75mtrs back from the road for the street rod shots.

Thanks bungbung - may your pies have much sauce.

    Great pics thanks BD!

So what bike were you riding today?? I followed BJ, aff-man, and another bike which was in front of them, from the BP at Whitford for about 6 kms until you's turned off toward Clevedon. Was that you? Good to hear you got into the riding more than taking photos, that's what it's all about!
