    Arai Helmet (online sites)?

Hey I am looking for a new Arai road Helmet, and have had a look at what NZ has to offer .... http://www.dold.co.nz/

    And the styles are limited..

I have been looking on line but a lot of places wont ship Arai's to NZ or out of the US.

Any one brought one lately on line and from where?

Get yourself a USA forwarding address from somewhere like: www.shipito.com

Buy in USA and have it sent there (probably for free if it is over US$100) and they will ship it to you for a small charge on top of the actual shipping.

You'll be up for customs fees and GST if it all combined exceeds NZ$400.

Can't say I have used them but someone suggested ridersdiscount.com seem to have a standard U$25 shipping fee worldwide

I had the exact same issue (wanted a Freddie Spencer rep and it wasnt available here in NZ (What the fuck? I mean seriously, what the fuck is that about? they do the Schwantz one, and Phil Read FFS but not Spencer?). So I rang Peter Stevens in Melbourne and got them to send it to me. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

    but.

I couldnt claim back the Aussie GST, the price in NZ was same in AUD nearly (stickered at 899AUD if I recall). then I got dinged the GST and biosecurity levey and whatnot.

ended up owing me ~$1400 . Dont care. Coolest helmet ever. (its the 83 -84 scheme, red on top, blue below).

So the point of that? Dont do what I did because holy shit was it expensive.

I imported my last Arai from England. Safety equipment doesn't attract VAT over there, and with the current exchange rates it's a no brainer, if like me you couldn't get the particular style here in NZ.

I have just replaced my Rx7 with the Gp. Looked all over the net. Ridersdiscount.com, were the best deal. Worked out under $1000NZ, delivered to my door. Ended up getting one off Dolds, thru their dealer in the Tron.

Really do not know why I did this. Cost me an extra $500, to support a local, NZ, company. And off the net there are a few styles we do not get here.

FWIW, Clemans up on K road, had a snazzy Arai, in red, the he would do for a Grand. Rx-7, not the GP. Came close, but decided to get the Gp.

Try here too, it will be free shipping (over $100) to a US location so you'll need a on-forwarder. I have purchased a helmet off them (HJC) and had it sent to the on-forwarded in my top link.

I recently went with the UK option, Arai Quantum is NZ $1200, in the UK 460GBP plus lots of free goodies.
Would be great to support local dealers and shops but the product range and price in NZ is just god dam awful!!

How do Asians get on buying helmets here? Do they fall of their heads?
