My KLX 450 has been running like a dog recently from refusing to idle to refusing to start. I had the valves checked - no problems only 1 reshimmed so over the weekend I pulled the carburettor out and cleaned the jets using bits of guitar strings. The top (fat) E string did the job reaming out the main jet and mostly I used the A string for the rest of the orifices. Bottom E was perfect for the tiny holes in the pilot jet.
I put it all back together (not finding any spare bolts) and hooked it all up - a real bugger of a job with everything so tight within the frame. After 4 kicks she fired up making beautiful music and idling away like nothing had ever been wrong.
I think the DR will be next - should I use Bass strings?
