    I have invented...

    a new drink.

Having trashed my stocks of the Bourbon, I rummaged through the rest of the cellar looking for Margarita components.

    Tequila... Check.

    ...

    ...

Aha: lurking in the back, there; a few bottles of experimental limoncello, constructed about five years ago from roughly equal measures of 40Below, sugar and fresh lemon juice. Good, progress. Off outside for the limes....

So. Blend some ice, a mug full of Tequila, a mug full of limoncello and a mug full of fresh lime juice.

It’s vaguely reminiscent of a Margarita, but without the cloying taste of the Cointreau. In fact I much prefer it.

Bit of a liability p’raps, with all dem free complex long-chain organics in there... But what the fuck, it tastes fucking good.

    The ice is melting...

And I'm treating her well enough...she has me domesticated, believe it or not! Better than being masticated I s'pose.

I shall try the beverage you have concocted, but might have to make sure my other half is on end to be the "responsible one" and make sure I don't make too much of an inebriated mess of meself.

I rarely get trashed on coctails. Bourbon, yes. Margaritas, no. Which is good, 'cause I'm clearing out the cellar in preperation for moving house and there's all sorts of weird drinkies to be invented if I'm to make a dent in it.

In fact having dealt with a couple of minor domestic issues myself I'm feeling chipper enough to head off for a wee trundle on t'Buell.

I accidentally invented a new drink a year or so ago. I noticed that our Bourbon decanter was only half full so I decided to top it up. Unfortunately I got my decanters mixed up and what I thought was bourbon was actually rum. Anyway in went 500mils or so of Mr Beam's finest leaving me about a half and half bourbon and rum. I realised when I put the bottle down but of course it was too late. Mighty perturbed I was until I tried it later that night and found that it was rather good. The blend seemed to hit all the parts of the mouth so it was a more complex drink than the two individual componants. It was so acceptable infact that I decided it was worthy of a name it. Hmmm, with Bourbon and Rum, the obvious name for the blend was 'Bum'.

Go on ... try it. You'll be surprised

Add Bacardi, Vodka and pasionfruit / mango and you've got a Tropical Itch.

Which I often had for lunch in Hawaii last month.

The last time I dabbled in the dark arts of cocktails was out of necessity. Somebody gave me a bottle of Slivovitz. Gahh! Thud. It's evel, truly evel. I don't think the Poles even like it.
