Anyone remember the Queen Street riots that started off from a Dave Dobbyn concert? I was in town that night with some US cousins....their comment was that in NY they riot when the power goes off....not when a band is playing.

As for blame....I find these days its always someones else's fault.

I was in London when the Poll Tax riot happened....about 3 miles away....saw it on the news.

The veneer of civilization is indeed thin.

From what I've read the Queen street 'riot', if you can call it that, was child's play next to most other riots.

I agree, since the Romans left British yoof has been bored, broke & bitter. Now we have the Play Station generation who are probably the most desensitised yet.

I was sobered to hear that a customer was amazed to find that our buses have change on board, he comes from Dublin & the threat of a junkie sticking a syringe full of blood into the drivers neck for a few coins has stopped them carrying change on board. He considered our situation to be unusual & slightly freaky.

Shit, I think we have a ring side seat to watch Rome burn.

I agree. One thing you truly appreciate in this country is the absence of graffiti and vandalism. Let it stay that way. Sure, there's the occasional bus shelter but making them out of glass they are just asking for it. I don't think you can pass through any given tunnel or alley in England without it being decimated with the stuff.

Not really anything to do with the economy, the drug barons are calling the shots and organising the riots.

The police are giving them enough rope to hang themselves, which is why it's going on this long. Pretty soon not only will they have a good idea of the numbers that the barons can bring to bear, but also good photographs of them, and not much lip back from the civil liberty retards when they start to really turn the screws on the rioters.

    You created this problem, whitey.

You and your educatoin system and your class system, and your rich and poor and black and white. You sneer at the products of that system who've been set up to fail, because they are inarticulate, and because now they have seized an opportunity, they are attacking your symbols of bourgeoise excess. Yes your flat screen TV and your boots the chemist.

    I mean really.

Apparently the barons are using twitter and other social networking mediums to coordinate the rioting peons. There are of course the general scum coming along for the ride who aren't otherwise associated.

The guy the cops shot for pulling a gun on them that started it all off is a figurehead in the local drug trade, and his killing is making the underlings fearful as if he can be touched so can they... thus the barons are flexing their muscle to prove to their subordinates that they still rule the roost as it were.

I will be interested in seeing how it plays out. It will be forgotten by the mainstream media the day after people stop lobbing concrete blocks through shopfronts.

the funniest thing I've heard today is the term "anti-social media". snarf.

Riots? I thought it was just a normal match between Millwall and Chelsea?

It appears as though he got at least one round off at the policeman. A bullet found lodged in the cop's radio.

    But enough seriousness, jokes time!

3D home entertainment isn't all it's cracked up to be.
Once you get it all set up, you'll realise that you forgot to rob the glasses.

Hundreds of young teens densely packed in the streets of London, causing chaos and destruction. Where's Anders Breivik when you need him?

I don't understand why the police don't use water cannons, it'd shock the rioters so much, most of them have never experienced a shower before!
