Only NZ place that has prices I've seen, and cheaper than the places I've paid cash at. You can also ask them to get in stuff they don't have if you need it.

It just redirects to probolt, maybe tastynuts is more memorable?

I'm being a little pedantic again, so no real progress

Got in to the garage at 7:30 this morning (yes I like to be in the garage, very therapeutic blah blah, good when you're a bit mad)
Was looking at the engine covers on the bike and though I better fix/ind the oil leak.
Turns out it's the rocker cover, so, what does Doug do?
    He removes the:
    Radiator
    Oil cooler
    Headers
    Oil lines
    Drops the oil, removes filter
    Drops the sump for cleaning...
Cleans the motor with a rag, the tooth brush
Cleans all the copper washer in the oil lines, then throws them away.
Go on to the webbernet and order, oil filter, rocker cover gasket, oil line o-rings, sump gasket, all washers for the oil lines and I've put new o-rings on the fron coolant pipes in the head/block (again...)

Going to re-paint the radiator after flushing it, grab a new waterpump o-ring, or install the polished ZZR400 water pump and paint the headers.
Might as well check the valves again, only did that 3000km ago... and the tensioner (I have a spare polished one too!)
    Better paint the calipers again...

No signs of valve stem seal leakage in the ports either

My madness is getting worse! I should just ride the fucking thing

One must note that none of this has anything to do with the rocker cover, to get that out you just pop the tank off

The sump had some tasty bits in it...
A few bits of shit that looked like woven fabric, I'm assuming it was tiny strands of the original stator insulation.
A and a small amount of swarf type crap, nothing too serious. (being a ZZR it'll be the dogs on 2nd gear...)
    So I cleaned it, twice.
Cleaned the oil pump screen, was fuckin' filthy
Cleaned out the oil lines to the cooler, cooler is soaking at the moment, so hopefully that'll be mint inside
So it's all nice and clean under there now, until I go near the road again.

Whilst I was under the bike, I cleaned the shock linkages, and found something awesome. It's a later model shock (How I never noticed is beyond me) it has the damping adjuster underneath it, so maybe I can get something resembling a pliant ride from it...?
I've had the shock off before to paint the spring, so I'm fucked if I know how that went unseen.

Going to rebuild my spare water pump,
Got the original off and it has shitty seals and the bearings and carbon seal were...roooooooted.
Tapped the shaft out and the outer bearing collapsed, balls all over everything!!! (How teh ladies looove it)
The oil seal obv failed and the center between the bearings was full of oil, so the bearings have had it (they're sealed...well, were)

Fun times! Moar dosh to spend

Bearings are $3.20 ea for stainless 2RS puppies, oil seal is around the $5 mark, if anyone is needing a ZZR400K/N or 600D/E pump rebuild, I'll do it

Pulled the spare pump apart, bearings have seen better days, I think that motor had 74,000km so no surprises, but it was perfectly dry, no signs of leaking past the seals.

The impeller shaft is mint too, measures a wee bit bigger and more consistent than the original (which is properly rooted looking)
Parts should be in teh mail tomorrow.

I've managed a small amount of progress I'll get pics if this bad weather fucks off, otherwise I'll take 'em in the rain

I'm toying with the idea of a small bikini fairing, so might mock one up this afternoon

    What I've done:
    Water pump rebuild/cover polished
    Cleaned everything
    New sump gasket
    Oil pump screen cleaned
    Sump cleaned
    Headers painted black
New front loom for the speedo, had a short when full lock left
Headlight is now block, top triple is black and the clip ons are black
Oil line o-rings and washers replaced.
    Oil line/cooler washers replaced
Water pipes to block/head cleaned out and replace o-rings (again, why not?)
Got rid of the hazard light switch and a few wires here and there by using the back half of the 600 switch block (currently using 400 ones)
Clutch switch gone, useless thing that it...I know if I'm in gear

    To do this week:
    Mock up bikini fairing
    Oil/filter
    148 jets
Vinyl wrap front guard for a giggle
    finish trimming the under tail
    Make manometer and sync carbs
    Valve clearances

Undecided on running a belly pan again, will post pics with and without it and I'd like to hear peoples ideas
