Well, another "interesting" day. Be a couple of sore folk tonight. B-Grade Tim decided that he'd see if Henk really would run him over and if it would hurt. He found out the answer was yes to both questions. Shame Henk did something to his thumb and ended up not riding any more for the day, but glad it wasn't worse (on Tim's side of things).
The riding was a lot less erratic than last meet, which was a good thing.
I found out that the bike goes better with a throttle, but it was still fun watching the young guns out playing. (at least I wasn't abused for having pulled out of a race this time jusst to watch it lol). All 3 young'uns (and Cully) did good. Watching Rob and Josh carving each other up, I'm going to have to ignore the fact they're newbies and see if I can get them when I'm behind.

I'm enjoying F5 more than I thought I would (thanks to the youngsters) and hope it'll help me enjoy buckets. In the meantime, I guess I just won't be bothering with B grade and the FXR. My times would be roughly the same on the 100 and the 150 (pathetic) hahaha.
Hmm, it could be something for you to look into once you've healed (F5), it's so less chaotic

Yes, the bro's fine. F5 is great, and would suit me well, but I've sunk so much into my FXR that I'm not about to buy another bike! I might ride a few big tracks again this summer. I've not decided and the bike is not fixed. I might need to cut my wide bars down a bit- my wide-bar warning sign on the back of the bike obviously doesn't work!

I can say that having Henk mount me from behind is an experience I do not wish to have repeated.
Thanks to the maker of my back protector all I have is bruising under the right shoulder, hope Henk is ok.

We were discussing whether foam back protectors count, and even if it's not in the rulebook (will need to look it up), they're really not good enough when you take into account what could've happened to you if you'd been wearing one instead of a good one.
To stop Henk mounting you from behind, you either need to stay on the bike in front of him, or stay behind him, but hope you've both got that out of your system now and no repeat performances in the future
Brian does really well on an FXR, so it's going to be interesting to see how he goes once his bike runs properly. hehe, #44 went well, too, with a decent pilot on board. I keep telling people it's the rider not the bike that's slow, but until they ride it, they don't realise it really is the rider holding back. I keep hoping something will rub off on me and I'll get better, but so far, no cigar (buying a dirt bike off an NZ champion didn't help, so why the hell would I be hoping it'll help hahahaha). No matter, so long as I have fun, I'll ride. It's just I'm not sure I'm having fun at times.
Damien, try cutting the bars down and seeing how you go. I know what you're saying about sinking $ into the bike, but it's not been a lot of fun watching you crash and being injured. You're welcome to take out #44 at some stage to see what that's like (bar wise).

This could happen to any rider so think on it. I was about 6 or so laps into the first practice session race day at Mt Wellington, I am not too familiar with the clockwise direction so was slowly winding it up and trying to learn my lines from the guys that passed me, fast Tim breezed by and I got about 2 corners out of him before he disappeared and Steve Booth came past so I tried to latch on to him, going into the left hander in the infield the front washed out on me and I hit the deck pretty hard but not enough to do too much physical damage by itself only that was not the end of it as I had Henk following close behind, he had nowhere to go and hit me right between the shoulder blades and him and his bike rode over the top of me taking out his belly pan on the way over, this rolled me over a few times and left me gasping for a breath for a few moments. I am fairly sure that if I had been wearing my old style foam back protector (or worse still no back protector) and not the type with the high density plastic spine the outcome would have been pretty horrific, as it is I am typing this with both hands and not a straw, my shoulders and ribs are sore but no lasting damage.
The moral of this is WEAR A BLOODY GOOD BACK PROTECTOR

Rule 8.1.3: Back Protectors -Must be a commercially available brand. Constructed from high density foam (or similar).

Glad to hear Cotswald is OK, thought I must have inflicted some prety serious damage when I ran clean over him. I got off pretty lightly, bruised and swollen right thumb.
