Ok I may be slightly biased though
This could turn into a really big adventure, Waipoua forest, Mangamukas, down the twin bridges road & back up old Russell road. Lashings of cornering goodness but probably close to 500k's.
F@$k it, might as well go to the Cape too

I would opt for that, Kaitaia/Lighthouse/ down to Kerikeri, FREE coffee at Paihia, back to Kaikohe, twin bridges, Paparoa/Oakleigh, Kaiwaka/Mangawhai/ SH16.

    How long zee got...

After recent stops I guess it must be Koha. Codys & Coke or JD & Coke RTD's seem to be the most popular.

Colonel and I and luggages[tee hee!] will be going up from Whangarei over the mangamukas then thru to Taipa on sat arvo if you want to join up? It is about 30 min from there, south to Kerikeri.
You will be doing a lot more km's than you think. It is 160km to Whangarei and then another 80 or so to Kerikeri. The mangamuka smile will make you forget that tho!

Which presents the opportunity to turn off towards Whangaroa & follow the coastal route too Matauri Bay.
There are an awful lot of corners up here...
