Had breakfast with him yesterday morning, saw the trusty XJ outside Dick Smiths in Rotovegas he was buying himself another top up for the phone. He was heading to Napier yesterday so should be getting close to Welly now I guess, the phone should be all up and running now.

Nup some phones won't...
I got a mate in Hamilton, and when she's got no credit on her phone,
she can't receive txts nor incoming phone calls..
Damn annoying it is too... when she got no credit.
