Hyosung oil leak

So there is a young dude at work with a 2008 GT250R Hyosung, done 7000km’s and it’s started to leak.

Says he got home the other night and his mum pointed to an oil spot on the ground.
He took of the front sprocket cover to find the sprocket nut in the bottom of the cover?? Don’t know what’s up with that.. But lucky he found it.
So he took of the belly pan of the bike and it was full of oil.

Says the oil level hasn’t dropped in the oil indicator window and it didn’t leak again for 4-5 days.

It has one of those internal oil filters and the cover seal isn’t broken or showing signs of a leak.

Any one go any idea’s what might be up with it?

Has he done an oil change lately, as its easy to f*#k some of the bolt threads? If its not leaking around the drain plug or the filter cover then it could be a crack in the engine case? Strip the fairings, wipe engine down and try and trace the origin of the leak

Sounds suspicious that the sprocket nut had come off. I'd be looking around there for signs of anything untoward, eg the output shaft bearing being fooked and leaking oil. Look for movement in the shaft, usually caused by an over tight chain.

Yep had a look at the casings and they look ok.

But I will get it home and strip it down and see what it looks like in the light of day..

Yeh that was my first thought.... Odd that the nut would come off..... I asked if there was much oil around the sprocket... he didn’t notice any, but that’s not saying much. I think he’s blind
