    MVX250 Project

Just went and picked up my brand new project after convincing myself that MVX's are cool.

    What needs doing?

Well, engine should be sweet (hopefully), not seized which is good. front fairing a bit damaged so will need replacement and also a mirror/indicator RHS.

Needs a new key cut as old ones lost (anyone know how to hotwire the MVX?)

I have a whole bunch of spares for it so if anyone is after a particular part and i don't need it then i should be able to help out. (carbs, wheels, zorsts, tank, etc etc)

Will put some pics up soon, followed by progress pics.

Not me. Road biking is only a recent thing for me.

When we were teenagers, a couple of the lads had MVXs and they were perpetually airborne on the fucking things. We just looked and blinked as we didn't get it, but just hearing about the MVX now takes me back to cars parked on the front lawn, stereos going, chix hanging out, piss drinking, etc, as we did.

OKay so have had a bit of a look at the bike properly. Still turning over so that is good. Needs some new spark plugs, new battery and air filter (not totally needed but will anyway), and the locksmith to get teh no key situation sorted. Will get it done in the next couple of weeks and then hopefully get the bugger started.

Scotty, you sick fucken bastard! Wicked to have someone else to laugh at. I know a guy in Tauranga with a good runner too. We're gonna catch up at Kopu once my bike's sorted for a bit of an MVX reunion, be great to have you along.

If you want to paint it original stylez, let me know as you can stencil off my paint, I've got a painter all lined up (my best mate) who could do both bikes at the same time, go ya halves in the materials if you're keen.

I've got mine hotwired and will PM ya how to do it.

Yeah mate definately keen to get it back to original paint. Will probably take a good few months to get it up and running and revinned etc (maybe 6 - 12 months ) will be trying to do it asap though as i dont have any other projects atm. Whats the ETA/ETC for your bike?

We can start a two stroke branch of BFTP

Jimmys bike ( when it was mine ) was pretty easy to hot wire, started real easy and sounded good

Cool mate ! More strokers in BFTP

I cleaned out the MVX carbs, replace the O rings in the fuel feed pipes between the carbs, They looked OK but seeped fuel. Was only to hear it run tho. No doubt jimmy has sused it now.I run it on a old lawn mower tank i have for working on bikes, Just have a hook and tie it on the bars or off a rafter in the shed

Has the fuel cap got numbers on it? You might be able to get a key cut off them

Okay, so I have been told by the guy i bought it off it needs new clutch plates, the clutch lever has no resistance/spring back at all.

He said that it uses the same clutch plates as a Honda CR250, can anyone confirm/deny this? Either that or tell me where to get clutch plates from?

hahaha, ohhh sorry still loughing at WT having a mate... cos having a MVX is nothing to lough at aye
I never saw a MVX seize their habbit was holing pistons, the VF400 had the same fairing too if ya need one... and to hotwire a stroker all ya do is unplug the ingnition, they only stop when earthed out.
    cheers DD
