VMCC Round 4 - Mihi Banks (finally something went right!)
After a week of shit weather and snow I was having doubts about good weather for VMCC round 4.....but good old manfield kept it clear (but cold)!! Friday night it took dad and I a good 10 minutes to get the bike to go as the bike was so cold
.
We got to the track on Saturday for the track day at about 7.30, I looked like a giant marshmellow. Anyway I unpacked everything, Signed my life away and got ready to have fun!! Moto Academy Steve gave us all a braking exercise to do for a couple of sessions, after doing this i found i could move my breaking markers more into the corner
.
Race day !!!
My aim for race day was to get down to low 40s and try beat Sue Forrest (#27 Mini Lite 250).
Qualifying:
First class out for the day, and the track was cold! Oh well what has to be done has to be done. I Qualified last with a 1.51, it was alright.
Race 1:
It was getting sunny, it was getting sunny
My start was pretty good, I tried to keep up with Sue but she got away after a couple of laps damit. I did pretty good stayed upright, moved my breaking markers further up and did a 1.49, cool.
Race 2:
Whoop Whoop, knocked 4 seconds of my last of 1.48. to 1.44!!
If i keep this up every meeting I will be faster than my dad in no time
. I hit neutral coming off the start line...again, I was reving the life out of my bike wondering why it wasnt going anywhere...duhh might help if it was in gear. I made up a bit of time and by the end of the race i was only 1 second off the back of the pack.
Race 3:
This by far was the funnest of all 3 races today. I got a excellent start and kept up with the back racers for a few of the laps doing consistant 1.44s!! i was hunting down Sue for the whole race, I was right behind her about to pass whan she would speed off on the straights (I really need to work on my corner exit speed), in the end there was 1 tenth of a second seperating Sue and I, and I was 2 seconds off the mid pack.
Overall it was a pretty bloody good weekend, got down to low 40s started getting my knee down, and had a hell of alot of fun
.
