    How to fit different wheels?

    Hey guys,

Could anyone describe what is needed to fit wheels from another bike? Do brake disc bolt patterns generally fall into a few standard offsets or is usually every wheel unique?

I need a set of dirt wheels for a DRZ400 but can't find any so I am now looking for alternative options.

    dirt wheels or motard?

    From Thumpertalk

I have been having people just drop me a pm with an e-mail address and I forward a standard sort of e-mail with attachments. I usually get back to most in a day or 2. My apologies to all I really haven't had time to clean up the package or clarify it overly. Between work, other mods, and riding I just can't find the time. I did add some good info from another TT'r on using CBR rims if you like the 6 spoke.

As stated earlier a GS rim can be swapped with minimal rework (a belt sander).
    Bandit rears (almost none)
GSXR (old style) rears require machining (very limited years fit)

Fronts I am still running the GSX (Katana same as GS) front. Since I had everything powder coated and the front is a little more fiddly I haven't bothered. I have been happy with the 110 PP.

One item that would help anyone have an off the shelf bracket for a 310mm rotor? Or do the 320's work. I still run the one I fabricated but it would eliminate all the real fab work for the next guys.

I've got a buddy with an SV who was going to lend them to me to measure. He has a whole raft of info on SV wheel swaps and interchangeability. So IF I get some free time this winter.....:busted:

    The hooligan mod rocks!

There is a bit to check ...

1: Hub centre width (outer bearings) different spacers may be needed ...
2: Rim diameter ... (front:speedo drive suits your bike. Rear: Sprocket correct distance from center to suit chain/)
3: and width ... (Will it fit in the gap ???)
4: Axle diameter (bushing up or down is not the best idea)
5: Disc/Drum ...(new mounts may be needed to suit discs/Cable ends may need to be changed on Drums)
When life throws you a curve ... Lean into it ...

    that is very useful thanks.

Sounds like a lot of fucking around though, perhaps best to hold out for DRZ dirt wheels.

Can ya not just fit knobblies to the OEM rims ?
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

Yes but I plan on using the proper 21 18 dirt wheels and just switching over at weekends for muriwai/woodhill etc.

What about SM forks and front brakes being different to e models?

No problem. You just use SM brake disc, it goes straight on. Wheels are a direct fit regardless of swimgarm and forks
