PM's are (although abusive ones are read by the Moderators). Anything else, best watch what you say.

Interesting. I'm a mod and I haven't the foggiest idea what this is all about. Sorry, even us basic mods can't see who sent bling or what the comments were.

Interesting - must be a senior moderator or administrator priv then. (which narrows it down a bit) and MT has confirmed KB PM's are also visible and, we must assume, are made available to the right people.

May I ask an open question in the interest of clarity to all members ?

What price is the integrity of a moderator/admin with such KB system privs when asked to provide commercial members with what is widely regarded as confidential communication for the purpose of commercial gain and peddling defamatory comment about a customer and KB member via KB PMs ?

I can see the need for mods to be trusted to have such privs but it should also come with responsibility to uphold the policies and principles of the site especially privacy. I don't think that has occurred here.

I had a red rep comment changed once, and then it went from red to green...
Turned out that the ''repper'' thought I was the mod who bin his post to PD...
Senior mods can do/see anything they like. I have seen it first hand, but my lips are sealed.

Abusive PM's are forwarded to the Moderators. We can't read them directly.

    Narrow it down,
if you all got PM's about Rep,
    who PM'd you,
and was it word for word.

That's all the answers you're going to get. This isn't a democracy and the laws/rules are made by 2 people.

If that doesn't suit you then I suggest you take it up with a higher power. According to my wife God is out there and listening.

On a public forum it is real easy to find out what's behind the "door". A basic knowledge of HTML code and using a rudimentary sub-ping router allows anyone with a password full administrator privileges.

There are also many back doors to multi user sites one of the most common is evident on this forum. To exploit it simply log out and log in again but enter the user name "GOD" (all capitals) and enter the password "1f4iL8i9T!m3" (this is a standard firmware password that admin can't remove)

You now have full administration access. Don't abuse it though as you'll cause the site to come crashing down. Good fun to see what people are saying about you in other peoples PMs though.

    Have fun

Right - so that answers that then.

You supplied the rep user list and comments. Why did you do that ?

You issued infractions against me for my "hypothetical" post about experiences of a trader - which would be of legitimate interest to other bikers on here and at the same time provided him with the means to issue lying defamatory emails about me to members who happened to agree with what I said (feedback which was thought to be confidential).

Bikers use this forum for lots of reasons but above all they expect to be fairly treated by moderators. You go to great lengths to spell out the rules we should all abide by and rightly so. If those rules are made by two people - which ones were you following then ?

    This really stinks.

    Lol,
just go with the flow man,
    This is Kiwibiker,
its a public forum for bikers in New Zealand,
Your just over thinking, as for infractions and rules,
I think its more willy nilly, I know I had one for some stuff I had said about another member, was pretty blunt, but wasnt all that bad,
where recently that same member said something twice as bad about me more than once and two me, yet those posts havnt been P.D'd etc.
    Just how it goes,
Always an easy fix, dont like it, dont log in haha

I don't give a stuff about the infractions.... in this context I can clearly see the true reason why they were given.

This is about privacy and senior moderator privileged support for certain members and their "dealings" regardless of rules which we (as members) would otherwise expect.

If you're worried about privacy take it to someone who can do something about it then. I honestly couldn't tell you who that would be though.

The internet is not as open and free as people believe. Every piece of equipment that powers the internet is owned by someone and at anytime they can change the rules arbitrarily. Most of the time though they play the game and follow the Free and Open ethos.

The problem is that there's nobody that rules the entire internet. Without a single body to tell everyone what to do that responsibility devolves down to the owners of the equipment. The UN, the US and pretty much all of the world Governments would dearly love to change that, but they haven't been able to and aren't likely to anytime soon.

As for the internet and privacy, you don't have any. Your ISP tracks and logs alsorts of stuff, as do other organisations. The only way to maintain absolute privacy on the internet is not to take part in it.
