No, in New Zealand they'll get a bunch of handouts for the rest of their lives.

If so she is running true to form for that lot.
Only time I ever agreed with ' helen ' was when she described them as ' haters & wreckers ' , that has been my experience with them.
Bugger all that is positive ever comes from Ngapuhi. Others settled their treaty claims & have got on with it, the best example being Ngai Tahu. Tainui after a false start are starting to go places.

Ignore her , treat her with the contempt she deserves.
Ngapuhi will niggle & undermine, stall & prevaricate till the cows come home, it's the nature of the beast.
The other side of the coin up there are the people & family's knocking their pans in to get ahead, great, honest & loyal people with a solid grasp of the here & now. They are losing out because of the vitriolic rabble crapping on their own door step & a family tradition of pulling back those who get ahead.

I could write a disturbing book about what happened when i lived up their.

Some very ugly on the inside people with hidden agendas & a "get what you can" attitude who play the race card when they get busted.

I lost all sympathy living up there, bitter, dis-honest losers where rife amongst the drug, alcohol & family abuse, hanging off that woman's every word.

She is not qualified as a person or academic to speak on immigration issues if she can't get her back yard in order.
I think the biggest act of hypocrisy is playing the race card when you are perhaps 80% European blood and 20% other, and proclaiming you are 20% other. I think that really sticks in the gullet of most fair minded kiwis who otherwise think we should just get on with life as kiwis. Successive governments and their handouts have helped to propagate this mentality rather than nip it firmly in the bud.

What really became apparent is that the race & tradition cards are being used to further the selfish ambitions of a few empowered individuals. It's not "my people", it's "me!".
    Very white ambition.

Margaret Mutu should concentrate on getting Maori to take ownership and responsibility for fixing up all the shit instead of looking for new people to blame.

For example start using some of the billions of treaty settlement money to implement programs to help with the horrendous child abuse and youth offending rates.

They get drowned out , stood over , physically abused , intimidated.
They dare not stand up & be counted if they know whats good for them.

The louder the yelling the more they usually have to hide.

This guy certainly has not hatred for Maori.

Just for losing leeches bludging off tax-payers and who constanly whinge their arses off about being hard-done-by and how they are 'owed' and it's their 'right'.

1000 people is a pretty small sample size. Is that supposed to represent the entire country?

I think I missed the bit where the article talks about the employment/beneficiary status of the respondents, but in general I agree with the sentiments from the rest of you guys.
