So, I am deemed fit to return to work for 4 hours a day

Anything is better than sitting home all day trust me.

That happened on Monday, today I was assessed at my work place to see what extras I need to be able to do my job. Nothing really, I drive a desk

But, I cant drive a car at the moment, so I need transport. I have just had my travel to work approved for 3 trips to work, and 2 home. Excellent, I dont object in the least to paying for my usual transport costs, so this will work out fine

Only problem? It is only approved for 2 weeks

Excellent, next week and the week after I can go to work, after that I am not sure what will happen, I guess I will sit at home again

Honestly, this compo business is just silly.

See how it goes for the two weeks and ask for it to be extended. You might find things not as easy as you might expect for the first week, though.

    Oh what a night...

Hiya Cas my lovely. Yeah, pain in the leg really, but only 2 and a bit weeks to go in plaster so the end is in sight, and I had better be all good for Paeroa or I will have gone totally mental

Take care sweets, hug you when I can.

    Best news today!

I have volunteerily opted for physio on my ankle prior to getting the cast off. I went to see my old mate Scott. He just shook his head at me. I took a couple of ligaments out of this ankle about 10 years ago, and it took forever to come right.

He tells me to forget about the previous injury, for this is NOTHING by comparison

I now have some excercises to do to recover the lost muscle, despite being in plaster still, and he reckons all things being equal I will be driving a week after the plaster comes off

As far as riding Millie north, easy, peasy as long as the swelling is under control It WILL BE!

I am happy as a pig in shit tonight

Thumbs up So I had this really good idea today

Tomorrow it is one day short of 6 weeks since I broke my ankle. It is 4 more sleeps till I am booked to have this cast off. I was told it needed 6 weeks in plaster. So...

My brain thought tomorrow was an option to get this thing off my leg, and the nurse agreed

I now have 16.5 hours till this cast comes off

Not that I am counting or anything

I have been walking on it quite a bit (I am not supposed to have been) and it is really sore and achey today, all I wanted to do was rub it and I couldn't, I will be able to tomorrow.

Hope it is healed, not sure what I will do if I need to have another cast on

I had a really good idea today too... Just can't remember what it was...

If you're really careful, you should be okay but don't think you're going to jump up and down in joyful freedom for a while..

It is worse than that Ed. The ankle showed no sign of healing on the xray today, if anything it looks worse

I am back in plaster and off to see an orthopedic surgeon

    Absolutely gutted.

    Unhappy All is not lost

The first appointment I could get with an Ortho was November 27th. That was first thing this morning. I was resigned to another 5 weeks in plaster before a 2nd opinion was obtained. Then I got a phone call...

I can see his associate on Nov 11th

Hopefully when they cut this cast off it will be all better Another 3 weeks will make the world of difference

In case this is not true and I need surgery there is still time for it to be healed enough to be out of plaster by Xmas

We were planning a trip around the East Cape Labour Weekend, put that on hold due to my specialness. So we booked into the camp knowing I would be free of plaster.

I am not free of plaster, so tonight I have just reserved the Disabled bathroom facilities at the camp for the weekend and I will take my shower chair with me

All I hope for now is that ACC will come to the party and provide transport that we cant do, so that I can get to work every day. Amazingly enough that has been a bit of a problem up to now
