    Front tyre perished and oversized

    Hi All

I imagine this is a common problem once you buy a second hand bike. You realise low and behold the a tire is knacked/oversized/of poor quality.

My Honda jade came with a very cheap looking 100/90/17 on the front, which due to the Naki sun is looking very perished and beginning to bulge oddly in strange ways. Its clear the 90 profile is far too big.
    anyway its needs to change

Luckily the back tire is a nice sport demon

Does anybody know roughly how far you can move numbers wise.
The CBR250 manual specifies a 100/80/17 is the correct size ( so I imagine this is the jades actual size )
Can I fit a 110/80/17 in the case? This appears to be a common size and I can get a decent one for a good price.

I'm quite prepared to buy a good tire, I know from experience a cheap tire results in a very poor/dodgy ride

A 110/80 is the same profile (or height) as a 100/90.

The Sport Demon is available in 100/80-17 and the wholesaler has them in stock with a RRP of $141.

You'd be hard pressed to find a better tyre at a better price.

Don't ride the thing if this is the case. Odd bulges mean the inside structural part of the tyre is falling apart. Leave it at home and get a new tyre.

it definately not being ridden, no WOF yet and Rego on hold. However it has been moved for repairs purposes ( new fork seals ) and it will have to go down the hill for a tire soon. I expect that will complete a warrant

Thanks for the info re tires, Ill keep to the same tire and the correct size. Sport demons are quite affordable. I hope the local bike shop doesnt gouge too much for fitting.

Pull the wheel out and carry it in. Probably half the price to fit and balance as it would if "on the bike".

I just fitted a new set of Sport demons to my abortion of a GSX550 and they're freakin MINT!
