    Bike or body?

Not sure how to do a poll, and can't be bothered figuring it out.
Anyway, talking today reminded me of a conversation Henk and I had back in 2005/6.
I'd been following how a friend had gone at the ISDE wherever, and read how a team mate had broken herself and was so frustrated lying in hospital while the rest of the team continued.

I'm pretty sure Henk was saying that would be the pits, but I thought that having broken the bike and being unable to continue would be worse.

After today, I'm still thinking that (I think Henk came round to my way of thinking).
I admit I'm not a racehead and often wonder what the hell I'm doing out there, but I love riding my bike(s). When #65 played up today, I really wanted to sack the mechanic (I thought I'd run out of gas) and was so frustrated that I had to watch the racing and not be out riding.

Young Robert today made me wonder if he wasn't happier that his bike broke in the last race, as he was having a shocker of a day (probably missing little Josh as well). (and yeah, I know those days when I've been glad that something went wrong and I didn't have to continue, Operau 2005/06 where I drowned my dirtbike springs to mind).

And yes, I've also had the days where I've injured myself and been unable to continue, so just waited till the guys finished riding before we headed off to A&E.

Anyone else have thoughts about it?

The human body fixes itself to some extent, It would be nice if our bikes did too!

The broken bike is less painful and when you're fucked off about the whole thing you can just close the garage door and walk away but an injury is a constant reminder. Sourcing parts can be a little painful though.
It's about options for me so I'll go broken bike. I have another bike to ride if I just want to ride and there's always some sap, I mean kind soul, who'll lend you something else to race, but if you're injured then you may not get those options.

I go with a broken bike (because you can allway pinch another)
riding around with a broken collar is was hard work and not much fun (specialy when you fall of a second time)
+ if the bike brakes you dont have the wife nagging about the lack of house work you are doing when you are at home

When you are completely F-----d you don't care about racing
You can ride through a great deal of pain when you need to
But when your bike dies and you cant find another to race, it is infuriating. Especially when it is something as simple as a gudgeon clip that came loose f***k f***k f****k f****k

Depends what has broken on the bike or if you have broken yourself through stupidity.

Personally I would rather hurt myself during an awesome race (the gp two years ago springs to mind) than be out due to a stupid mechanical f up that could have been avoided (last seasons gp)

The most desirable outcome of course is neither

For the record Qkkid was in my bed, not the other way round

I think I'd rather crash and hurt myself than have a mechanical, but I'd rather wreck the bike crashing than put myself out for a couple of months injured. Bikes can be fixed in a hurry if needed (between meets in any case) and I have several back up plans for broken bikes, not so much for broken bones.

I told you it was very caring that you passed your Mojo on to young Will

Henk always goes on about how he needs to go racing to settle down on the road. I've found that tonight I was way more aggressive with my riding than usual and I know I'm odd. Get me on the race track, I'm struggling to be a little bit aggressive.

No wonder I'd rather me broke than my bike. I hate spectating when I should be riding, unless I really can't be stuffed riding. It should be my choice, not my bike's.

Righto, I know I'm random tonight, and I'm not even drinking (yet).
