I notice it when I am DRIVING.

when I'm riding I assume they only look so they can then target me

How do you ever actually get through an intersection then? Even for the most defensive rider there comes a time when you have to assume that you've been seen, unless you stop at every intersection and wait 'till it is completely clear all ways regardless of who has the right of way. And then you'll probably be hit from behind.

The research undertaken by some UK roading and safety insight group found that the average driver spends a staggering 0.3 of a second looking to the right at intersections…
How far do you move in 0.3 of a second at 50kph?
And would that distance be enough to clear the shadow of the pillar?
And if they are creeping forward as most impatient drivers do, how badly will this reduce the possibility of being spotted as the pillar shadow angle is moving with you?

I once saw a truck go into the drivers side of a car and really seriously reduce its resale value.
    Should have given way…

But if they can’t see trucks?

This ^^^ is what we have to look forward to when the “give way to the right” law changes.
Or though, with it being changed and people now aware of it and exercising more caution it may have the effect of temporarily reducing the crash statistics at intersections.

Be so refreshing to hear “I forgot the new give way thingy and just went” as you lie on the road with a smashed leg instead of “sorry mate, didn’t see you”
Or “But he had the right of way, so when he stopped I ran over him caus I was turning too”

    Fuck I’m cynical tonight…
