    Angry Rant ON!

OK ya'll, this is specifically for the law minded peops on KB...but all input welcome re this wee rant.

Scenario-this evening i walk into Clendon New World Manurewa, going in for miscellaneous goods of the munchy variety and in less than half a minute accosted by the ol chodja pseudo security guy (who despises me from a previous 'incident') who has an issue with me and my medium sized back pack. Ignoring him i continued grabbing my stuff and head to the counter, meanwhile old guys grabbed the younger security dude, who follows me and tries to cite store policy-which is...check the pack with them i.e leave it with them at the unattended front counter (no way in goddam hell-fricken thieves the lot of them) or leave it on the bike (its Clendon Rewa at night no goddam way am i doing that as it'll be gone the minute my backs turned). I respond that they can do a bag search before i exit as the whole policy and exercise is geared toward nabbing shoplifters - thieves. Anyhoo, they're not having a bar of it and want my bag pronto...i refuse and argue the points..ie breach of civil liberties citing unreasonable search, that i resent the inference and presumption that i am a criminal because I’m dressed in my bike gears (carrying helmet) with pack in tow, cite the guard (old fart) having a personal vendetta and so being discriminatory, cite harassment and the inconsistent application of store policy relating to bags. They claim to have notices up at the entrance and inside the store-they do but it relates to hoodies and school bags? Being that I’m in my thirties, i don't have a school bag but a small riding pack. They target me for my back pack but not the countless women (yes i am a lady biker to) with fricken handbags bigger than mine, people with baby bags and buggies walking past the whole fracas. SO...belabouring the point gets me REFUSED service and or custom AND 'verbally trespassed' supposedly, from my local New World; young security guy unable to handle me and my big words calls police who fob him off, i take down details (manager, guards, witnesses, time) and am highly agitated by the whole ridiculous situation. Complying with the guards request but under duress, i gap it home to ring the cops, who tell me the verbal trespass is a legally grey area as the wording is vague and open to spurious interpretation, being that security dude didn't take down any details-silly male just wanted the argumentative female to leave. I left when asked but seeing as I’m a bitch on wheels, literally, am going to do a number on this one. Approach the owner as well as the Regional Manager of NW Enterprises, Human Rights Commission, seek Legal Advice and make this plea.

S.O.S to ALL bikers within koowie of this establishment...i heartily encourage y'all to pay a friendly visit to said supermarket sporting a back pack...would luv to see them handle a fricken store full of bikers with flippen back packs...num nut organisation, they have fussed with the wrong bloody female goddam them! Though i realise this is basically a storm in a teacup and that I’m ranting, i am just so mad, i take this as a personal affront. Guard told me i didn't need to shop there and that i needn't come back...idiot. It’s the closest supermarket with 1km of home, I’m a local and have shopped there 20 plus years. I've even gone in with a pack when in non bike clothes and there's never been a problem, so WTF man? Has anyone else had this happen to them or have a legal background they can draw on to elucidate..

When you've calmed down, why not simply have a chat to the manager?

    1. They can ask to look in your bag, they can also choose not to serve you.

    2. a verbal tresspass CAN be enforced, Ive done it many times when doing security at bars.

    3. If you decided to make all the 'citings' you say you did in your port, you probably came across as a know-it-all fuckwit.

If you really feel aggreived, write a letter to the management of said premises, asking for clarification of their bag search policies.

I highly doubt they have the legal right to demand you leave your bag with them, but they are probably well entitled to ask to look through it.

Bottom line though, really? if you have issues there, go to another fucking supermarket.

and and for fuck sakes, use paragraphs!

They can ask to look in your bag. However they have no legal right to do so . You are entitled to refuse (I recommend politely).

    Also... wall of text wow.

Shop with your feet and take your money with you. Think of how much money they are not going to get from you over the next twenty years.
I once had a gas station treat me badly so stopped going there. It was not far from my work at the time so I had to go past it to get gas. Every time I smiled to myself. At that time I was spending $1200 a month on fuel.
My point is they had you as a customer so it's their loss.

That is ridiculous that they caused such a fuss - a simple look in your bag at the check out would have been all that was needed surely???
God, I shop at my local supermarket and use my helmet as the basket as it is easier than carrying the basket. I have never had any problems.
Do a written complaint to the manager and request a response, and then shop elsewhere - what a bunch of cocks. They could have handled this a lot better, there was no need for them to go on the attack when a simple polite request would have done. All they had to do was blame company policy and pretend to be embarrased that they had to ask you.
Easy, I do it all the time with unpaid accounts at work - you sympathise and blame upper management.

Didn't sound like it was them causing the problem, 1 minute letting a bag being checked and the problem would have gone away

    Just find another supermarket.

I used to go almost daily, to a certain supermarket and I would park the motorbike next to the bike stands right in front of the window for all of the 5 minutes I was there, great place to park your motorbike, not in anybodys way, in clear view of the store so secure etc. I'd done that for at least a year, maybe 2. Then one day they told me I was not allowed to park there, that I had to put my motorcycle in a car park bay like the cars.

I turned around, and never went back to that supermarket again.

I know people have complained about it being a wall of text, but it's not that hard to read and if you have you would have seen that she was willing for them to check her bag, she just didn't want to leave it with them while she shopped and was against herself as a biker being singled out

I deal with people like you on a day to day basis,
Its not always a case of every man and his dog having a bag, its a case of people doing shifty things, trying to keep an eye on security or what have you, its dodge as fuck,
the fact you say you have done something before which got you in strive with one of the guards, That alone would make me suspect you of something,

Maybe you should just allow them to search your bag, What could you possibly have that they haven't seen before, You could have asked to speak the manager directly, or deal with the duty manager, and you could have opted to do it in the privacy of an office,

    And as for
S.O.S to ALL bikers within koowie of this establishment...i heartily encourage y'all to pay a friendly visit to said supermarket sporting a back pack...would luv to see them handle a fricken store full of bikers with flippen back packs..
How about you stop making a mountain out of an ant hill. You can spout your rights to people, but they can simply refuse you service and they can indeed issue you and enforce a verbal trespass.
They too have rights, not to mention it is their store, not yours.

I went through my local supermarket last night dressed in leathers and with a huge backpack in my hand. Nobody even turned a hair...
