You could always cover the original superglue marks by glueing those old foil milk bottle tops all over your tank, together with some sequins and beads, and enter it in your local village fete....either that or sell the tank to your local art gallery for $1 million and tell them it's titled "Petroltank with superglue 2011"

As for superglue on paint, I've heard that coke-cola is effective, but that could also be an urban legend?
What does work is to use a shortened panel file (run file), though it requires some skill. Here's what I did while experimenting with superglue.
Final pic was after blocking with P2000 and then soft P3000.
